Love this move. Ward was a terrible coach who was tanking this team. Sutter is the best coach this core has had and brings the exact type of culture and demeanor that this core needs right now.

I didn't know much about Ward as a coach, but I couldn't understand why Calgary was doing poorly. I guess the lack of discipline and buy in hurt him.

I want to Murray to fire Eakins & bring DS out of the consulting role and put him behind the bench.

If the players thought Hartley and Peters were tough, they are in for a treat.

DS is treliving's 5th coach. Guaranteed if this doesn't work, he'll be his last.

Except this time we went to a coach outside the current organization, with an actual pedigree. You guys took our playbook and hired the assistant in an interim head coach role.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall at practice today!

I bet some of the players are excited for Sutter, while others are like”oh no”

Like him or hate him, he was one of the better choices imo.

The Flames book of bargain bin coaches has not worked. Sutter is a great coach. Absolutely and undeniably a terrible GM (although, Kipper was a Sutter trade).

It never made sense to me why the team spends to the cap but chooses to not spend a few more million on a decent coach. That being said, if this doesn't work out there is ZERO putting it on the coach anymore. I hope the players play with that sense of urgency under them.

Chucky had some strange comments the other day, I wonder if he did not a message from Tre saying that things would be changing soon.

Willing to bet there are some players frustrated at the lack of effort from others.

I think this was a necessary move - Ward is fine I think at generating the Xs and Os for a powerplay.

We've seen the struggle for an assitant to move to HC with the same team before. Unless they've had that HC title in the past, it's a tough move to make. The expectation for an assistant is to be that "player's coach" and the conduit between player and head coach.

Ward struggled mightily to hold these guys accountable. Sutter will not.

It's gonna be bumpy and his systems don't often allow for a lot of offensive flair, but that is also good. Christ, even in piling up 7 goals last night they allowed 30+ shots AGAIN.

Weird time for a move, right after a win at home and with a game on Saturday, but support the change. Ward will take from this, he'll be a better coach for it and hopefully it serves him well down the road.

Now. Trade Bennett and Pelletier and whatever else Vegas wants for Alex Tuch. Today.

Ha, except it'll probably be Huska for a couple of weeks, so it's gonna be disjointed

Bennett is going to thrive under Sutter if he wants to. Bennett is the kind of player Sutter loves, and he's not the type of coach to single players out and play mind games with like Ward did.

I think its Monahan that will struggle the most.

big bodies will be expected to play tougher. Monahan has a bit of Dana Murzyn style to his play...big softie.

Even in monahan’s best games he really looks like a lazy player 90% of the time, just waiting for Johnny to feed the puck to him. I would actually expect those 2 to have the hardest time adjusting but I think all sutter will be looking for is guys to give 100% which in my opinion isn’t a whole lot to ask

I can't wait to see the Bennett Vs. Sutter s..t show! One bad shift? Bench him for the rest of the game and scratch him. I was so happy that he was scratched yesterday and couldn't wait to post that on this forum - the cat's out of the bag - Bennett intentionally doesn't try & the rest of the team not trying speaks to a bigger problem, and it's pretty hilarious they brought in Sutter, who will hopefully put an end to that

Sutter will be in against Montreal. Unless he gets a positive test.

So Treliving fires Ward and brings In Sutter because the Flames aren't playing to Trelivings expectations but yet aside from goaltending Treliving did next to nothing to Improve his club In the offseason. Gutsy! Perhaps Treling Is next on the chopping block.
