The Laughton goal was great passing, but as a whole it wasn’t a good day. Nice to get a win when you’re not at your best.

You can make this statement for just about every game this year, when will see a complete 60 minute game from this team? Hopefully with players coming back we will finally see one.

I don't think its silly. Myers has struggled all year with his defensive zone coverage, especially in the slot area. AV has sat TK already and now Myers has to sit to apparently regroup and get better. Hopefully Myers will be better because of this.
- jd250

I was fine with him sitting...he’s made a lot of blunders on coverage in his own end. I would want to get him back in fairly quickly. Accountability is the key. Message sent, let’s hope it’s received.

Wow, I feel like we are grasping at straws for this kid. Bottom line is he is not that good, just doesn't have it. I mean now we want him to play 4th line center replacing Bunnaman, expectations just keep getting smaller and smaller. Patrick needs to sit when TK comes back, there is just no way around it. And if his continues like this, I think the Flyers have to cut bait and move on. Patrick is already on a prove it contract this year, not sure the Flyers can keep going with this as it is.
- jd250

It's way too early to give up on Patrick with what he has been through. He missed a lot of time. It's been 17 games. Patience is still called for.

Let's be thankful you're not the coach. I think you're drastically overstating his play right now. Hayes has always been streaky offensively. I'll explain to you what a coach normally thinks in situations like this. What will scratching a player do. With a veteran player like Hayes, not much. It creates a big hole in the lineup for one thing. Takes away an all situations veteran player out of the lineup. Use coaching and video to correct errors but advocating for scratching him is not well thought out.
- MJL

I don't disagree with you. As I have stated 15 times already, I would hope it doesn't come to sitting him. All I said is if I were coach I would not be afraid to sit anyone the get my point across, and right now I am frustrated with how Hayes is playing. The Flyers need to play north-south a lot more; they need to simply their game and shoot the freak'n puck. You have to admit Hayes was a big offender in yesterday's game.

So when does your patience run out if you are Flyers brass? After this current contract? Would you resign him for another "prove it" one year deal if he would take it? I would cut bait once this contract ends if Patrick's play continues like this.

What were your expectations of him this year? Haven’t played 20 games yet. I think people have false expectations for patty this year. Already explained why I would play one over the other. Where do you sit with Oscar? Similar situation.

Honestly I expected a lot more from Patrick this year, and a lot more compared to Lindblom who is already showing more signs that he is coming back to form. But Patrick shows me nothing at all. In the last 5 games he has 0 points and 1 shot on goal ... 1! I don't care how many headaches he had last year, your telling me he can't get into scoring areas and shoot the puck playing with "pass happy" Hayes and Giroux? Even if Patrick (I refuse to call him Patty) wasn't scoring, just by getting into the right areas and shooting the puck he would at least get some assists. But currently he is completely irrelevant out there.

I think its ridiculous to hold onto a player once you know he will not be what you expected. I'm fine with giving him the season to prove himself, but if he doesn't why keep going?

A new contract with Patrick at this point would be very easy to do. What does cut bait mean?

I think the word you meant is "overreacting". I am not exaggerating what I observed yesterday. But OK, please watch the game today and pay special attention to his offensive decisions, as I will. Maybe he plays better today.

It means I would not offer him another contract if he continues to play like this. If I see him improve, even if the goals are not there, I would sign him for another year if he were willing to play on another 1 year deal.

Yikes😬

Step 1: manage your expectations for the kid who missed over a year of hockey

Step 2: realize that while he isn’t playing to potential, he is still a good young right-handed forward with size and hockey sense even without the puck

Step 3: wait until you have a longer uninterrupted stretch of play before evaluating his progress (try 20 games after Covid pause unless there is another one)

just my take

Why? he is an RFA after this season. You either sign him or trade him, and I would try to trade him while he still to some has promise. Nothing stupid about it. I mean between Couturier, Hayes, Laughton, Bunnaman, Frost and maybe even O'Brien as early as next year, not sure you need Patrick up the middle anymore.
