I haven't had an issue with Patrick's board play all season. The issue with Patrick is that he is a skill player that rarely has the puck. He doesn't get to the scoring areas. Doesn't generate shots. He got his nose a little dirty around the net the game before last. Other than on the PP, no where near the net last game. - MJL
He's not a "skilled" player, he's a talented player, but lacks highend skill. His perimeter play is troublesome, he's just not willing to get to the greasy areas and that's something you can't will into a player.

That's semantics. Patrick is a skilled player. His skill level was high enough to make him the 2nd overall pick.

Which appears to have been a mistake, Flyer luck, get lucky with a gifted 2nd overall pick and shoot yourselves in the foot. I know, I know, he went where he was projected. Personally I wasn't a fan of his and wanted a defenceman. Stupid Hextall.

You were okay until the stupid Hextall comment. That's well, stupid!
By the way, happy 48th birthday to the second greatest Flyer ever!!

But at the time the true real need was a right handed centerman arguably. At the time the defensive prospect pool seemed well stocked, as well as some wingers. But we truly lacked a top end center prospect. Also important to consider this was when everyone was doom and gloom with Giroux’s falsely claimed decline.
It's absolutely absurd. Comical. Hayes leads the team is shots on goal this season. There is no legitimate basis to sit Hayes.
Flyers lines have no chemistry. Hayes should sit. The comedy just goes on and on.

The only thing that is comical is you continually trying to fault with everything I post. I am not going away anytime soon, so just state your own opinions and stop trying to find fault with everyone else.
i have Hayes in a money pool, so i watch him closely
he's been great this year, BUT
going back to last year i feel like there's more east-west in his offensive game than i'd like, and in his short time with Giroux I feel like he's looking to set up G at times when he's got a good shot of his own and his success rate on those passes to G isn't super good
the good heavily outweighs the bad with him, and I'm sure the coaches are clear with him on what he can improve. He's a very coachable player - Coburns_Nose
THANK YOU! I guess you can be a fan of Hayes and still be objective in your observations. I wish everyone was like you. I agree with you and I know that its really frustrating when you see Hayes have a clear shot and decide to make a fancy play instead, which most of the time does not work. Great post!

I thought d played pretty good yesterday....although I think Gus continued to make some dopey plays could probably use a rest. It’s weird Buffalo continues to slumber along, it’s like they get great fortune with drafts of Eichel and Dahlin...franchise players....good drafts with guys like Reinhardt and Ristolainen. They have young super skilled guys like Cozens and Mittelstadt. They just can’t seem to get the other pieces to surround these guys. Free agents like Okposo and Skinner are killers. If any team should of hired Hextall and Burke it was Buffalo...that front office is horrid. That coach should stick to coaching soccer. - landros 2
I don't think its silly. Myers has struggled all year with his defensive zone coverage, especially in the slot area. AV has sat TK already and now Myers has to sit to apparently regroup and get better. Hopefully Myers will be better because of this.
If any team could use a total management overhaul it’s Buffalo. Awesome fan support, great sports town...but a cluster (frank) organization from ownership all the way down. - landros 2
You wan to see a franchise that is a mess, go look at the San Jose Sharks roster in Cap friendly. They are screwed for years to come!

I just felt like the team needed to continue building the backend, for one, and that you draft the best player available, for me that wasn't Patrick. But I'm not a professional scout. I wanted to roll the dice with a skilled right handed defenceman in Makar.
It appears as though a lot of kids taken after Patrick will have better careers than him, but again, they took him where he was predominantly listed. Makar has as many point as a defenceman in 90 less games, Pettersson is the class of the draft, Martin Necas and Nick Suzuki will surely outpace him in points if the current trend continues and they were taken almost ten picks later.
Oh well, no sense crying over it, I'm just venting.
Do they have a better chance of winning with him in the line up or out? If you say out, it is your opinion but I would say you are completely wrong. It’s about winning. - wcorvette
Of course the Flyers are much better with Hayes in the lineup, and I hope it does not come to sitting him for a game or two to make the point. All I posted is that I am frustrated with the way he is playing currently and if it continues if I were the coach I would sit him for a game or two to make my point, not just to him but the entire team. I am a Hayes fan, but I hate his game right now and I think its hurting more than helping.

You make the repeated ridiculous comments, not me. If you don't like when I disagree with you, stop giving me so much to work with and making it so easy. The list grows on a daily basis.

Myers has struggled in some key areas of his defensive game but he has also been very good in other areas such as defending on the rush and along the wall.
I see it rather as the last two games were overall Patrick’s best since the start of the season so hopefully it is building for him. - NC Flyers Fan
Wow, I feel like we are grasping at straws for this kid. Bottom line is he is not that good, just doesn't have it. I mean now we want him to play 4th line center replacing Bunnaman, expectations just keep getting smaller and smaller. Patrick needs to sit when TK comes back, there is just no way around it. And if his continues like this, I think the Flyers have to cut bait and move on. Patrick is already on a prove it contract this year, not sure the Flyers can keep going with this as it is.

Let's be thankful you're not the coach. I think you're drastically overstating his play right now. Hayes has always been streaky offensively. I'll explain to you what a coach normally thinks in situations like this. What will scratching a player do. With a veteran player like Hayes, not much. It creates a big hole in the lineup for one thing. Takes away an all situations veteran player out of the lineup. Use coaching and video to correct errors but advocating for scratching him is not well thought out.
