I would like to get rid of Schmidt. He's not a right side defender and in the last few games, it's been more noticeable for me that he isn't comfortable playing the right side properly.
Having to take everything on his back hand against the boards really limits his play. When exiting the zone and keep the puck in playing in the Ozone. - manvanfan
Mini...
Don't you dare criticize Schmidt, he was a great acquisition and not only did the team get him at just under 6million(5,95) they gave up a 3rd round pick.
Ya, I take Myers all day at that cost. Both are 3/4 defenseman. Imo

He wanted to walk away from Tanev and Markstom? I find that hard to believe.
Not to defend Green, he’s in over his head, but I don’t think that his boss has done him any favours. - CubanBuffet
Best thing Benning has done in his entire tenure is walking away from Tanev and Markstrom |

I don’t know, the same as usual. $10 to someone who needs it more than we do. - CubanBuffet
I'm down for that. My GF and I give $40 per month to adopt-a-family to help families who struggle for food. Charities are good. |

"You've got to be able to move pucks and you got to be able to defend. That will get you ice time here and hopefully some ice time in the NHL.
Jett is learning to move the puck well, he's learning to play with an edge. He played simple and tough tonight."
-Trent Cull on Jett Woo - manvanfan
The Canucks don't care about that aspect. |

Totally. They were clearly holding us back.
I’m not a mind reader, but I guess that Green would disagree. |

Good on you. If Benning’s still around to start next season I’ll make a donation. I might even find a way to send a bottle your way. |

Is it really as simple as just moving the same guys around the lineup! Green should absolutely be fired if this is the case.
My counter proposal is just keep going with what worked in the past and let the guys play through it. - 1970vintage
I like you Vintsy, but they were predictable. As a Mudget, that I am everything that they do is easily defensible for players that are actually nhl calibre |

I’m not disagreeing. I wouldn’t have signed them to what they got.
I am saying that there’s a pretty good chance that Green gets his pink slip in the next few weeks, whereas if Markstrom and Tanev were still around he’s probably looking at an extension.
Edit: you’re right though, If there’s one thing Green knows, it’s brutal contracts. He’s got enough of them in his lineup. |

Perhaps, I think they would still suck. Hell Marky is on IR already. Calgary is way worse this year with these huge upgrades
Canucks overachieved last year. Sucks but true |

Calgary has them now and I can easily see their coach getting his pink slip very soon

Obviously it’s impossible to know. I don’t think that Tanev and Markstom are the problem in Calgary. From what I’ve seen they’ve played quite well. Maybe the Canucks would be better this season if they were in the lineup, maybe they would be the same (it’s hard to imagine them being worse).
I think they got some effective hockey left in them, but the backend of those deals have the potential to be Eriksson bad. |

I am getting a kick out of all of you, concerned about about Benning and his free agent signings, but, nary a word about trading for a 5.95 million defenseman.
No credibility with this fan, to any of you.
Sorry guys Schmidt sucks.
No he is not a top pairing defenseman.
Poor Edler can't even slowly drop down in the pairings, has to be the best, until the end of his career. |

You’re wrong. Green has stated as much. He doesn’t care about contracts, he doesn’t care about getting more draft picks (or having less), he doesn’t care what kind of mental gymnastics his GM has to do to get him good players. He relied on those two guys a lot, I’m sure he was not happy to see them go.
As a fan, totally, I’m glad Benning walked away, he should have traded them a year or two ago, but in the moment, it was the best move. |

I love the fight over the draft picks versus the player involved ie, we hate player x, therefore draft pick is better.
We love draft picks and hate cap dumps but love Schmidt as a cap dump that cost a 3rd round pick, some of you are fucking idiots. |
