I'd go with Apocalypse now as for movie soundtracks that took commercial songs and put it in the movie.
As for music written specifically for movies, Morricone and a few other composers are obvious choices -- one movie I thought the music was excellent was Apocalypto - written by another grand master of composing film music, James Horner.

That tying goal last night was ugly and we need to score more ugly goals.. That OT winner though was What a snipe by Willy - PatC80
Agreed, that's also something the Leafs need to get better at - scoring ugly goals when you need to. Running into a red hot goalie 2 games in a row and it felt like they finally clued in that they needed a greasy one.
It hurts right now that the guys who you would look at to get those types of goals are out (Jumbo, Simmonds) but maybe it's a blessing in disguise if it can get the guys who are more skilled / elite goal scorers to figure out that sometimes you just have to go in and get the greasy one.
An ability to do that may have ended up in a different play in result last year as CBJ was getting insane goaltending.
It's basic stuff to take away the goalies view, shoot for rebounds or tips and when it's in front swing your stick like a samurai sword until you get puck but I get it - when guys are scoring at will (ok maybe not at will but with relative ease) shooting from the slot etc. during the season it's hard to switch off the brain from thinking they can keep doing that same thing.
Building an NHL team for success is so hard simply because the regular season is such a different game than playoffs. I can't think of another pro sport that is like that.
I don't mean in intensity of the game or players focus etc. I mean literally the game seems to be totally different and I suppose a big chunk of that falls to officiating and what is an October Penalty vs a May or June penalty.
So while I wonder myself what could have been, when you lay out the options before you, outside of maybe jumping in on Domi or jumping in on O'Rielly, I'm not sure what we could or would have done differently that would have been as beneficial as signing Tavares. There just wasn't a dearth of defensive options available. - Monkeypunk
I missed wedgies reply to my post...but yes, not for 1 second do I regret signing Tavares. that day may have been the happiest as a Leafs fan I can remember, just behind the 2016 draft lottery.

Was just going to post this - opening scene of Apocalypse Now with The End even though I’m not a huge Doors fan. Really sets the tone.

Teams are also plugging up centre ice which CBJ did pretty effectively. Habs, Sens and Flames have all done that and Leafs have had to fight for entry.
I haven’t seen stats but they sure seemed to lose a lot of face offs, especially during PPs

I liked the blue ray collectors edition that came with its own razor blade. - bloatedmosquito
It’s tough to create music for movies about fictitious musicians. Tender Mercies where Robert Duval plays a former country music star and where he sings is good in an understated way. There was a Tom Hanks movie about an aspiring pop group of kids where they played the same pop song over and over. Considering how many times it was played and it’s genre it held up well.

Haven't really been in here today....
Am I right in guessing that aardvark dude is not showing his face? After parading around talking about how people hate being wrong, and how bad Nylander is, I can't imagine you'd see him much on a day after Nylander scores the comeback and winning goal in a 2-1 come from behind win.
To this day people still hum Wagner in some personal battle situations. - Canada Cup
It's wild to think this was only 6 years after the u.s. withdrew and 12 years after the song came out. It looks so polished.
These days I think about music that came out 12 years ago and how much movies have improved over that time from a production value standpoint, and it doesn't seem like anything has happened at all.

lmao.
Some little piggy squealed on him and he's banned.
But as i recall he was happy and cheery after the gwg, and was happy for Bill Ny.
Btw, did you hear Keefe's comments about Willy post game? If not, you should listen to them. They sound pretty similar to what AA preaches.

For me the Crow soundtrack was all about the tunes from RATM, The Cure, STP, NIN (doing Joy Division), Femmes, even Rollins.....hard to pick just one but if I had to I'd probably go with NIN covering Joy Division.
The Crow 2 soundtrack makes me instantly think of Hole covering Gold Dust Woman (well in my opinion, I like the darker, grungier version more than the original) and Rob Zombie but I just looked at it and there were some other good tunes/bands on there as well like Shelf life by 7 Mary 3 or this one
- Cush29
I am embarrassed to admit that I am not sure I know that the NIN song was a cover of Joy Division. I should have known that! Excellent tune.
I don't remember much about the Crow 2. I will give the soundtrack a listen.
