The plan all along was for Ducharme and/or Bouchard to take over one day.
Bouchard is doing a great job in Laval with the young players so I'm fine with giving Ducharme (a coach with a much more up to date vision of hockey) a chance here.

Do you think a new more up to date coach will be able to compensate for the lack of high end talent on the roster? Or will it make no difference, and he will struggle like Julien? |

You'll know it's a good game if you poop yourself sooner. We'll know it's a bad game if the Leafs do. |

Are you saying if I poop myself, the Leafs will play better?
Because I can do that.

Well the strenght of this Habs team is their depth.
They have 4 lines who, when playing the right way, can create offense and are physical enough to tire the other team out.
So yeah, I do think the Habs can do much better with someone who's willing to change what hasn't been working for two years now.
Chantal Machabée said this morning that Ducharme wanted the team to be a more aggressive team willing to play a less defensive style and his ideas were shut down by Julien.
So there you have it. Here's hoping it works. |

I am neither a gastroenterologist nor do I possess precognitive abilities, but as long as you are alone in the safety of your own home . . . uh . . . you know . . . go for it. |

They have a number of fast forwards, so it sounds like Ducharme would like to let them loose a little more. That could be detrimental on the back-end. Price feels more reputation than substance more often than not these days. He makes great saves and allows weak goals. You open up, and he's going to have to step up because the chances against are going to get worse and more frequent. The other potential problem with opening up is that I don't know if Chiarot, Weber and Edmundson have the foot speed to move into an up-tempo style.
I guess we'll see. It's more fun for the players, so there could be good results, but just from past experience in Leafland, it opens the door to a trading punches type of game, and you need both the offensive finish and the goaltending to sustain it. |

I think they'd get the most success with Gallant as the coach providing the politics of the situation could be set aside. |
