Willy was skating well all night, had plenty of opportunities. Curious how much his WAR went up today?

His WAR went up by a half dozen IKEA meatballs.

that calgary goal was more of a bad play by Holl (for the 78th time this season, he's just standing in front of the net without really defending) as it were Nylander's fault.

Beautiful OT goal by Nylander, he needs to do that more often to be of value to this team. Unless he becomse a consistent 40+ goal/season scorer, he's not needed.

You can see the disgust on Babcock’s face thinking about how soft players have become.

found the problem

William Nylander gives simple post game analysis on his offensive success last night compared to recent games. “I shot the puck more”. Nylander had 6 shots on goal last night compared to 16 in his previous ten games (an average of 1.6 shots per game).

Shoot more. Seems reasonable for a goal scorer.

98 goals in 353 nhl games (regular season + playoffs) does not constitute for a 'goal scorer' in my nhl definition book...

(hyman has 79 in 346 nhl games -- without the PP time; sure nobody calls Hyman a 'goal scorer')

25% more goals than hyman. its close

last season and this, there is exactly 12 players who have scored more goals than Nylander.

Hyman also has 13 goals with no goalie in the net

nice way of cherry picking the last 2 seasons.

there are quite a bit more natural goal scorers in the league than Willie the Floater.
Looking at the last 5 seasons, he's #93 on the goals scored. that's the exact same amount as Eberle -- a guy who is a great comparable for Nylander.

EDIT:
goals/60 (players with more than 50 games) Nylander is #32 last 2 seasons.
goals/60 - looking at last 5 seasons; he's not even in the top150 in NHL..

Talk about cherry picking stats, you're going off a sample period that includes his rookie season, sophomore season and a shortened season. Are you serious?

huh, so he is really improving

imagine that, he is better at 23/24 than 19

also since he is being compared to Hyman (not sure why).. Hyman wasnt even a fulltime nhl'er until he was 24

other players (matthews, pastrnak, kubalik, vrana etc. did have early seasons included as well).
2016-2017 wasn't his rookie season by the way -- and with 22goals 2nd best season as for # goals scored.
happy to take that 2016-2017 season out, but it will only mean he slides down even lower in that overview.
nylander just doesn't score a lot of goals for a player whose main asset should be goalscoring..

my point is that last season - 31 goals in 68 games - was the anomaly, not the other 5 seasons.
he's on a pace for 27goals/82games this season; not even 30 goals.

I forgot about Simmons question to Ujiri about the increase in gun crime in Toronto. Wow... Simmons really is a piece of poop.

Jesus dude, I recognize the warts on Nylander's game, but this is ridiculous.
