let's see...well, it's been nearly 10 yrs. since their honeymoon phase came crashing to a halt with the lucic/miller incident followed some weeks later by the embarrassing 8-3 loss on his 'triumphant' return to pittsburgh with his team...

what's a few more months?...right?

With this roster, it is almost impossible to suck this much. Of course, Ralph managed to lead his team into a black hole of boring suckitude that only the mostly talentless Detroit Redwings have witnessed.

(frank)ing Christ.

This is currently the issue. He is being shltered too much.

There was someone who took video on twitter and did a snap shot.
Where Dahin consistently passes the puck and then stays back in the D-zone.
He doesn't join the rush. he's coached not to.

Its what D-men do in Soccer. Get it to the mids and the mids do the transitions/ ball handling.

Its astonishing.

We're all aware that his coaching is severely damaging his natural ability. The team is not letting Dahlin the talent be Dahlin the player.

They're making him into Jake McCabe, and Ralph should be shot in the knee for it.

It still doesn't excuse his defensive lapses. However, if the rest of the defense was half competent, or he had a reliable partner like let's say Will Borgen, some of his flaws would be masked.

This is the same thing that happened with Myers.

Take a guy that has unlimited offesnive potential and destroy him because defense.

Headman grew natually.

Let Dahlin be Karlsson. I could live with lapses in defense if it means hes putting up points in bunches.

Dahlin will learn defense naturally. let that happen.

I hate this team so god damn much

i'm really hoping that borgen, or a player similar to him (somewhere?) will provide the right balance...

in looking back, i believe one of the worst things to happen to myers was the loss of tallinder...and i'll say the same thing about joker...he wasn't the same after botts traded scandella

But he's not.

His D zone starts are up and his O zone starts are down.

His giveaway % is also (unbelievably) down.

To me, when you look at guys like Byram, Hughes, Makar, guys of that ilk, they ATTACK the game. Dahlin looks like he has zero confidence to do that. He's also way too nonchalant w the puck, and that has to change.

Or you know, partner him with a steady, defensive, rhd, defenseman.

I don’t put joker, Risto or Miller in that category. Borgen looked ok, but small sample size and rookie.

Dahlin should have had a vet d man sought out for him a while ago.

I know haljmerson (spelling) was looked at this summer. But again, a little late to the party.

Give Dahlin a steady eddy and let the kid fly.

HE is though.

He is being taught to get rid of the puck as soon as he is able.

He is not being allowed to attack the game like those guys.

None of teh d-men do this

Montour
Dahlin

None of them carry the puck. D-men if they get it just dump it in at teh red line or pass the puck before they reach their own blueline.

"Sheltered" might be the wrong word. Clearly he is a bit lost. What is odd to me is that Bryson and Montour are attacking a lot in the neutral zone, just like Dahlin used to. What has he been told?

OK, that's coaching him the wrong way, but he's not being sheltered, per se, with regard to the situations he's being put in.

Ralph has to go. He's turned our offensive players into Girgensons's.

I'd bet the BBQ master would have Dahlin on his toes again, instead of his heels.
