I find this blog site to be more entertaining than actual sabres games at times

The best part about this deal is that it sounds like it's not an exclusive rights deal.

I'd like to see FOX/FS1 get the other piece of it.

- buffalofan19

As long as they don't bury it on the goddamn tennis or golf channel like NBC did. No one will ever convince me that that was a good move. They treated F1, who like 14 people in the US watch, better when they had conflicts, they just shifted it over to CNBC which everyone gets.

I agree

But MANY here wanted it to happen AND were happy with the crap return

Also... my posting about what happened with ROR isn’t really me still crying that he’s gone
What I’m trying to say,
is that we shouldn’t make the same mistake with Jack
Hopefully we learned our lesson from the terrible ROR trade

- jdfitz77

You say this almost every single day. It's super weird.

Pegula's got butt hurt from ROR's comments at locker clean out day.
Fans don't make trades.

- IonSabres

Here in lies the problem... fans shouldn’t make trades. And T.Pegs fanboy stiffy has gotten him in more trouble with this franchise than anything. If he would just stuff the fan boy in the closet and play business man with the team, the Sabres would be in much better position.

Well pretty much everyone gets espn & espn2
Don’t think hockey will be on espn news except maybe in the playoffs

Most ppl get FoxSports too

So hockey should be readily available for those who care

And the Sabres will still be on MSG
Kinda miss the Empire Sports Network though

1- not even close to true
2- you’re missing the point on how I’m relating it to the Eichel situation NOW- it fits

It’s weird how YOU only focus on the ROR part
And miss the “don’t make the same mistake with Eichel part” that is my actual point

Well sure
If we got back Crosby, then who gives a crap about ROR

But with the Pegulas not wanting to pay the bonus he was due,
getting a good return seemed to have flown right out the window

Should’ve just kept him, but oh well- sh!t happens

- jdfitz77

I don't believe any of the "Terry didn't want to pay the bonus" crap. Has Pegula or any high ranking Sabres employee said this ? It's all hearsay, mostly brought up in message boards like this one. Again, if enough people keep saying it, then everyone starts to believe it. It was a stupid trade made in haste for no reason at all.

I would not be shocked to see the majority of the games streamed. You look at what they carry during football and basketball season, college and pro, and I have a hard time seeing where they're going to put the league.

Whatever the exact circumstances were,
the trade went horribly wrong for us

My point here today though....
is to not make the same mistake with Eichel

So it's just coincidence that he was traded two hours before the bonus was due?

And FWIW, a friend of mine became good buddies with ROR. Still texts with him occasionally. He wanted out. It's well known by people who were around him the last two seasons

The only way Pegula would admit that publicly is if he had the IQ of a rock. The only way an employee would say it is if he were actively looking for a reason to get the Pegulas to fire him.

More mentions of the ROR trade ? OK, why not. I read the "he wanted out" statements a couple pages back. It's pretty awesome that we have people here - in this very blog ! that are personal friends with Ryan O'Reilly and know this information for a fact - and are willing to blab about it here ! Oh, maybe I have that wrong. It's so excellent that people in here were the actual GM of the Sabres during that period of time, and are posting what they personally heard from ROR.

I guess if you say it enough times, you believe it's real. Kind of like "the election was stolen".

Face it. It was a stupid, unnecessary trade that didn't have to be made, and we're still paying for it.

- kritter65

It’s certainly possible
Espn+ already does steam a bunch of games,
so it would make sense that they continue to do so

They could also replace some of the college hoops they show with NHL games
There’s a lot of games on that not too many care all that much about

Could see ESPN devoting certain nights to certain sports
And then rotating programming on Espn2

I’ve said for years that ESPN should have a movie channel to show Sports related movies
I think that would be quite popular

Per source, Buffalo Sabres centre Eric Staal is open to a move to a contender and the expectation is a deal will occur before the April 12 trade deadline.

Believe it or not, the Golf Channel is one of the most watched channels out there. If you think that hockey fans were mad when the NBC put playoff games on there, you should have seen the reaction from Golf fans when hockey was on in place of whatever the normal programming was.

Just to expand on this:

ROR hated Buffalo so much that he stuck around for a week after he was traded and attended a Band of Horses concert at Town Ballroom and took time out to talk to my sister about how much he liked being here and that we were in good hands with Eichel.

The entire narrative was always bullpoop

Doesn’t mean everyone gets the Golf channel though
It’s NOT included in the basic cable packages in Buffalo for example- gotta pay extra
