Game over. Great game by Hall. Really need that goalie upgrade so he can really let loose. Can’t wait.

Well he’s top ten in both GAA and S% for starters over 12 games (roughly, don’t know exact). You say the average starter, so since he’s “less” proven, 3.75-4 for 3/4 years perhaps? He’s one of the few that has played well not only this year, but the last two.
- SDSabre

He's also had injuries the past 2 seasons and has yet to play more than 37 games in a season.

That's why I think he'll get lower then the number you guessed, and for less term. That's not even factoring in the COVID impact to the market.

I'm not defending him. I'm arguing that this isn't a 10+ year coaching problem.

Sure it is.

I am not going to blame the players. Pegula is trash, coaches are trash, rookie GMs are trash.

Pegulas continue to bring in rookie trash so they can control them.

You get what you pay for. Trash.

Fine by me. My point was keep him as I think he’s a quality tandem partner. Obviously don’t overpay significantly, but don’t lose him over a half a mil and replace with a different Hutton

Imagine a hockey coach here? Probably quit the first week. Kim probably giving Kreuger the line combos imagine Torts? He would laugh.

Look at what Lehner got last offseason ($5M for 5 years).

He's better then Ullmark and only 3 years older.

Ullmark also has had injury issues.

I'd be surprised if Ullmark even got an offer for $4M, and I would be stunned if a team gave him a long term deal.

- kingcong39

I don't know where this one goes. Crazy things happen in UFA. I lean towards letting him test the market, if he doesn't accept something team-friendly. If you want to hold firm at say 2years @3.5m per, it's pretty risky.

I'm good with keeping him as well as I don't believe he's going to command a lot of dollars or much term, but I damn well would be getting a strong second goaltender to replace the nonsense they've been trotting out the past 2 seasons.

To be fair they’ve attempted to hire McLellan and Babcock and Bylsma was a cup winning coach.

They need a veteran coach right now but they’re on the cusp of a total rebuild.

I don’t expect the Sabres to be much better next year when they inevitably trade Reinhart and Hall walks or wants to be traded because of Krueger getting fired.

Let's take a look at the Islanders prior to Barry Trotz.

Let's take a look at the Leafs prior to Sheldon Keefe.

Let's take a look at the Blues prior to Craig Berube.

Let's take a look at the Hurricanes prior to Rod Brind'Amor.

Let's take a look at the Penguins prior to Dan Bylsma in 2009.

Amazing how good those captains look after a positive coaching change. Amazing how those teams look after someone comes in that knows how to utilize the roster.

(frank) you Ralph. (frank)ing end it, Kevyn.

Crazy things did not happen last offseason due to the frozen cap, and the conditions are going to be the same this offseason as the cap will be frozen again.

IMO they would be the high bidder at $3.5M per for 2 seasons.

Bingo, this needs to be stickied so everyone can see.

A good coach can change everything.

This post is post of the year.

This is the most talented team in 10 years and all the key players are regressing.

It absolutely is a coaching problem

There’s other young players I’d rather see at this point than Tage
He just hasn’t shown anything in the NHL
I’d like to see Routsalainen called up & playing for example

- jdfitz77

Honestly, I'd prefer if they kept the youngins away from this poop show until Ralf ou s fired and a suitable coach is hired

It was fun to see Bryson and Borgen play and play well.
Give them more time with Krueger and Smith and they will Coach fear into them as well.
You watch, 10 - 15 games from now Bryson will be coached down...don't carry the puck...pass it to the D, make sure you leave the O-zone early to prevent anyone from getting behind you...JC, don't carry the puck in the O-zones, shoot from the point...shots on net.

Send him back and let him keep getting solid reinforcement from Apert.

It's less about systems and more about getting your players to execute your style successfully. There's several 'systems' in the NHL. There's many ways to win. But if you can't get your players to play that way, you might as well send the local high school team out there, because I can't imagine they'd fare much worse than this circus. You need a coach that can reach the players. (frank) the system and (frank) all that other noise. Ralph can be intelligent, he can be a great guy, he can be an excellent communicator, but it doesn't mean Richard until it translates on the ice.

Because the team continues to bring in trash coaches and 3 trash coaches in 6 years will leave players heads spinning

Bring in a good coach then I will blame the players.

They went after babc0ck and hired bylsma?

Phail lousley was a respected hire, who immediately resurfaced in Arizona.

Krueger- no excuses
