All 5 players cleared waivers. Surprising that no one took a shot at Carlsson |

He’s a dime a dozen player. Some teams could have taken a look but it’s not like he’s had much success in North America. |

Obviously he was not part of the Yzerplan!
Stevie has bigger fish to fry, and a LD may be part of it.

I’d target Pettersson from PIT. Maybe they’d be interested in Fabbri. |

Getting rid of Fabbri is a really dumb idea at this point. He’s performing and helping the rebuilding team. If you replace him with a talented player that doesn’t want to be there, you end up getting screwed. |

Smith’s last game wasn’t good. Fil did play well in the last one. Smith will get back in, he just got a bit turned around and needs to reset |

Except forward is where the organizational depth is and LD is where it’s the worst. Fabbri is a good player but let’s not pretend like he’s part of the core going forward. |

The organization, at this point, disagrees with you. You’d do well to temper some of the assumed knowledge. In the character and commitment department, it means more than bringing in someone else. Good players, even great players, can ruin an organization. Culture matters. I appreciate that you feel strongly based on advanced stats, but they fail to tell you if someone is a fit as a human being. That matters much more than far too many people think. |

Fil had a really good outing last time. Smith did not. Hence, Fil doesn’t need a night off at this point. He may after tonight, but at this point his play was better than Smith’s last showing. |

Not a Fil fan, but he was good last game. And besides he can be traded now to all but 8 teams of his choosing, so play him and get a pick for him!

First period summary up. Chicago is playing lazy defensively, but with elite level goal scorers it doesn’t slow them down. Detroit has their work cut out for them.
First period summary - Detroit outshot Chicago 13 to 6. Unfortunately the ‘Hawks scored twice on those 6 shots. Detroit’s 13th shot, with 14 seconds left, saw Namestnikov knock in a much need goal that was the definition of a hard working, get to the front of the net tally. Chicago, defensively, is sloppy. They’re a team benefitting from elite scoring and getting solid goaltending. They look lost in their own zone much of the time, even more than Detroit. It’s the type of one sided, almost lazy defensively game that will frustrate a rebuild. Detroit is doing a lot of things right. Chicago can hit the back of the net. The Red Wings laps in coverage on the first, and soft coverage on Kane for the second are backbreaking for this team. Too many times a soft spot in coverage is the nail in the coffin for a team that just can’t break out past 2 goals more often than not. Detroit would need to shut the gate for 2 periods and catch some friendly bounces to walk out of this with 1 or 2 points. Chicago just needs to do what they do. Ignore the defensive end of the ice and pour on the offense.

Your pick of players is always based on your love of advanced stats. The only thing embarrassing is watching you bully people in the comments post after post. You need to take a few nights off. You are killing people’s love for the game, and their ability to express an opinion. I’ve always tried to be accommodating, but more and more I’m watching people just quit participating because you berate and try to embarass them. It won’t work on me. I’m asking you to take some time off of commenting if you can’t knock it off voluntarily. Keep it up, and it will become an involuntary break. |

With the emergence of POJ the pens board think Pettersson is one of their better trade assets. |
