This is the worst part of hockey in today’s NHL. Used to be guys who were long term players, coaches, etc. got moved into a made up position within the organization. Now, people are castoff without regard nor remorse.
It pains me that Hexy got unceremoniously booted from Philly. He will always be a Flyer in my world. An old school player who gave his heart and soul to the team.
So now we are left to watch one of your own working for your rival. Sucks! And I mean no disrespect to the Pens, it’s just that the NHL has lost the hate between teams, as we are all a kinder, gentler society, where everyone’s feelings matter. It doesn’t work for me, especially in sports.
How does one get juiced for a big game, against a hated rival, when players and staff move between teams, and players are so buddy, buddy, with each other. I’d prefer the old “I hate them” attitude like it used to be. Then we can hate each other on game days, like it used to be. It was fun!
Today’s sports, with all the money involved just isn’t the same.
I can reminisce. |

Yea no disrespect, but HATED when Jagr was playing for you guys. See the problem with the world isn't about love and hate it's about respect. Respect dropped off a cliff so now society pushes this love everyone crap. Spare me. It's ok to argue and have hate! Not everyone is gonna love everyone. Just have respect for people. That's all. |

Yup need more players like hextall when he was on the ice. The marchands and Wilson’s. It still feels weird that hextall is a penguin but I dig it haha. |

I know you can’t come out and pooptalk your team but not liking these quotes from burkie;
“I think good GMs let their coach coach… At the end of the day, I’ve always let the coach make decisions. I think Sully’s a first-rate coach. I think he’s got good assistants. I don’t think there’s an issue there at all.” |

Good read. Couldn't agree more about getting Morehouse out of the on ice product. Yohe said Morehouse used to cross the line with Shero. I'm sure he did the same with Rutherford.
A couple things I noticed.... Jason Karmanos was interviewed for this job. That pretty much blows up the theory about Rutherford being salty with firing him. That decision was clearly JR's alone.
DK has a nice piece up today on the entire situation. Basically says (again), Rutherford quit because the Pens weren't willing to extend his contract and the guy mostly making the call on that was Mario. Rutherford didn't believe he had to sing for his supper. |

Just heard Burke on the radio... Paraphrasing.... "I let coaches coach. If they don't do the job they get fired." |

Hopefully. That was a copy and paste from Twitter I posted. I find it hard to believe no one in the FO thinks Sully shouldn’t be canned. I would of just guessed if they were planning on firing him they wouldn’t be saying he’s a great coach. I imagine Burke would say something blunt or sidestep it all together. Oh well. Time will tell. |

After JJ and Matheson he needed to do a lot more than sing. |

I think he's a dead man walking tbh. Only a matter of time. Players have tuned Sully out. |

I think so, too. I think pretty much everyone involved knows, too.
Just think if JR hadn't resigned. This definitely needed to happen now (should have happened a while ago). I feel good about the direction now. |

Ditto. Should have happened after that play-in disaster....maybe even the year before. Sully has 3 more years on his deal however. For a team losing a shyt load of money, that might be a problem. |

I'm pretty sure that players still make their buyout payment in addition to their new salary with a new team, but I think I remember that coaches don't keep getting their old salary if they get a new coaching gig. |

Correct, but Sullivan won't need to take the first job offered. he may choose to take a year or two of paid vacation. I would. |
