Really underrated second line in 2013

I will say that these do change at times. Nielsen was out last time but ended up on the ice. Really, though, I prefer Brome as well

Lets start with a new coaching staff, Blashole days should have been over years ago, or when Q became available.

I though we didn't resign Big E (crack at Staal not doing anything on the ice)

Since we can't do anything with the veterans in the lineup, how about giving some of the kids a chance?

I understand and accept that we won’t be good but I personally cannot stand to watch this dumpster fire anymore until blashill is gone. At this point he’s holding the rebuild back.

I think the correct explanation for the seemingly head-scratching lineup decisions — albeit one that I personally disagree with — is the fact that the Wings are already operating at the 23-man active roster limit due to players coming back from COVID non-roster status and AFAIK only Bertuzzi officially on IR.

Basically you can’t just “scratch” Filppula and Nielsen, because there’s no one healthy left on the active roster to replace them. You’d have to waive them and send them to the taxi squad—either that, or maybe send another guy to IR (Bernier? DeKeyser?), call up one forward (say Brome), and then run an 11-7 lineup with Alex Biega getting like four minutes.

The reason Brome, Hirose, Smith, et. al were sent down I think has more to do with their waiver-exempt status than their actual performance.

Now you may ask yourself, “Who cares if Nielsen and Filppula get waived? No one is going to take them, and even if someone did that would arguably be a good thing.” To which I can only say “I agree with you there, but I don’t think Jeff Blashill does.”
