One has to wonder if Clayton Keller does not meet expectations this season, will Arizona expose him to the expansion draft? He has skill but doesn’t fit into Tocchet’s defensive style system. Previous GM’s pick and bad contract (Chayka...🤢). It is doubtful anyone would want to trade for Keller’s contract at this point. In a more open system with a change of scenery, he may have some value and he is still young.

I volunteer to do the Kings again, presuming Ben Shelley doesn't want to do lists for all 86 teams that he blogs for, although so far my list would be pretty much the same as last time.

I have a few questions and or comments. I've enjoyed reading these posts then getting on NHL 21 and adding Seattle. I've done it on a few different teams but I guess I'll start off with my question, I tried to do Anaheim after I saw your blog last week I think it was. Obviously NHL 21 isn't perfect but I was forced to protect Getzlaf even though he was becoming a UFA the week later. But two guys on your Anaheim list where shattenkirk and Jakob silfverberg. The game is pretty accurate about the nmc's. But you had said that Anaheim would expose these guy so is the game wrong or were you doing but you were saying about the rules of assuming they would wave there no movement clause. As a Sabres fan I have started over and over and over in the game so I pretty much got it down now LOL so I'll toss this out there. Goalie I protected Jonas Johansson expose Dustin tokarski and the two unrestricted. Defense I protected ristolainen, Miller and Montour. The seven forwards I'm forced to protect Skinner, but your new rules give a new wrinkle I could see Skinner waving his no-movement clause to give the Sabres an extra protection. But I won't factor that in right now. So the other six are Jack eichel, Tage Thompson, Casey Mittelstadt, Sam Reinhart, I think Victor olofsson off the top of my head I'm not sure if you have to do him since he's only in his second year. And out of three guys I always change it up I never know who I want but Cody Eakin, Curtis Lazar and girgensons. So Skinner waves his no-movement clause I'd protect Lazar and Cody Eakin. Not sure why it would make you protect Getzlaf. He is a pending UFA and via CapFriendly has no NMC.

The way he’s playing, Laughton looks like the correct choice to snag from Philly. That guy just plays hard, he’s been producing, he’s young, and he’s cheap.

I suppose JvR might be left unprotected, and that shouldn’t be ignored. before you scoff, he’s had a hell of a season so far. He might be their best forward to this point (although Couturier has only played the first and last game). Plus, the Kraken can take that contract and not sweat it in the least.

But ultimately my guess is Laughton.
