There wasn't a lot of pro's to take away from the game if you're a Kings fan.

One is Peterson played great and has looked great all season -- the jury is still out if he is he heir apparent for Quick, but early on he is making a strong a case to be considered.

Two is Kaliyev's game. He scored a goal which is what he is supposed to do. It's fair to say he looked a little lost in the defensive zone at times -- but at this point that's not really a concern. I think he exceeded expectations for game one.

Other then that -- wow, the Kings could not complete a pass out of their zone to save their lives. They also couldn't couldn't carry the puck through the neutral zone and struggled to get anything going on the forecheck.

Both teams lined up teams that are questionable NHL teams -- and it showed in a game that did not look like an NHL game.

Cheers to the prospects for both of these teams that will get filtered into the lineups as we move forward.

Both teams have bright futures ahead of them.

But today? That was a terrible game.

Wasnt able to catch the game, but I have liked how peterson has played and i think his game can grow enough to make him a #1 goalie, also congrats to kaliyev on his first goal in the show.
These are the growing pains of having contended for yrs,now we are on the cusp of the old guard being completely gone and the new generation of players to usher in a new era of winning championships.
I love that the franchise and old guard alike have been able to accomplish, the core of this team was drafted and has only played in kings jerseys.hats off to kopi, brown,Dewey and quick for the contributions they have made over those yrs.hopefully we can look back in 10 yrs and still see turcotte, kaliyev, byfield still in kings jerseys and winning or have already won championships.

I have to agree that there was not a lot of positive things to take away from this game. Granted we lost four starters over the course of a week but, as McLellan said himself, that is not an excuse for the lack of competitiveness. And, unfortunately, it seems like almost every game so far this year we have been playing catch up because we are starting slow.

One can only hope that this forces the kings hand and allows some of the kids to play who I think are ready (ie. Bjornfot, when healthy Turcotte, and I think fagemo, or Kupari would bring more than Wagner currently does). However, (surprise, surprise) I am not the coach or GM and don’t have to make that decision. But they did say they want to make the playoffs this year and there are obvious players who shouldn’t be in an NHL line up.
