Ugh just saw this. Cody Ceci is going to end up on the top pair and I'm not sure I can even get that upset about it.

In GM news, Drury has removed his name from consideration. Pens have been granted permission to speak to Hextall.

I think I like the idea of Hextall. I guess we'll see how this goes down.

I keep forgetting his name, but the Avs AGM is starting to grow on me. He supposedly was a big voice in sone of their moves for supporting talent and that's what we need now. And he's got good experience at rebuilding which we'll also need soon.

Won't be upset with Hextall. He did a great job rebuilding the Flyers. Not sure he's the man to put the Pens back on top, but losing confidence that can be done.

Mcfarland is the Avs AGM, and I'd like him too. I just read that they are talking bringing in Mike Gillis as POHO and looking like Futa or Hextall as GM as Fitzgerald is not being given permission by the Devils.

Feel bad for Fitzgerald. Seems like he could have the Pens job. NJ is blocking him, but also rumor is they're only having him finish the year and hiring Chayka.

That's weird, why wouldn't the Devils give him Permission, then bring in Chayka if he left?

Chayka’s suspended and physically cannot take the job I’m pretty sure.

Former Arizona Coyotes general manager John Chayka has been suspended by NHL commissioner Gary Bettman until Dec. 31, 2021 "for conduct detrimental to the league and game" according to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger.

On Aug. 26, the NHL stripped the Coyotes of their 2020 second-round pick and 2021 first-round pick for violating the scouting combine policy of conducting physical testing of draft-eligible players. Chayka was the GM when the NHL launched their investigation in January 2020.

If the franchise wants to move ahead, it’s time to move on from candidates who have a connection to the team and its past. A new perspective to player development, drafting talent and managing the rather bare cupboard of prospects is needed. No need for a retread GM, and a blast from penguins past like Fitzgerald.

I honestly don't have a problem with a team blocking their current GM in the middle of a season. Even if they're thinking of finding another guy after the season. Especially a division rival.

This just points to the extreme nature of JR walking out on his team. The more I think about it the more pissed I get. Left the front office empty. Gonna force the Pens into a quick search with limited selections.

Anyway, from the sounds of it, this Futa guy has a good resume.

Ok thanks. The rumor I heard was Chayka could take a job after this season, but I didn't check and I guess that's wrong.

I don't have a problem with it either. Just poor timing for Fitzgerald. Devils aren't committing to him as GM past this year, but also won't let him interview and Pens might be his best shot for a long-term GM job.

I've always felt David Morehouse is an unqualified douche. If I had to guess, the "blow up" happened between Rutherford and him. Somebody said last week that Shero and Morehouse had constant disagreements. Still... Rutherford is known to be impetuous. He might have blown things out of proportion.

Also what I heard was that Chayka was taking a job with Harris and Blitzer’s sports group, not specifically the devils.
