Yes to Vince Dunn. Wings need more puck savvy D men. Take him, Bozak and a 1st for a 3rd or Cholo.....

I wish Raz would have stayed up, but he'll get 1st line ice time in GR, and 1st PP.

Bozak is a salary dump as Tarasenko starts skating. Ok a 3rd and Cholo for Dunn, Bozak and a 1st

It is reported that ADA is gathering a bit of interest....NYR will retain half his salary.
How about Zetterberg's LTIR contract for ADA ($2.4M retained) and a 3rd. Then NYR can shop for another need. And the wings get a reclamation project they can flip at the TDL.
I would flip ADA to the Pens right away and that would make an interesting season when they play NYR!

I’ve done what checking I could on DeAngelo. The actual incident seems less and less important, or even anything abnormal in a pro sports environment. What Larry Brooks and co keep referencing was a tweet Deangelo made that he was disgusted with Twitter for banning Donald Trump last year. Why on earth that creeps into every article about this incident is far beyond me.

DeAngelo has upside, for sure. If the NY press continued to attack him for months after that tweet (Brooks’s specialty) I can understand why he may have been on the edge. That sad part is, no we can never know any of the real issues. If Yzerman decides at any point to take another shot with AD, it will be a sign that he thinks there is something worth giving a shot to

It sounds to me like the issue with ADA was less "one incident" and more about a pattern of terrible behaviour / being a toxic teammate despite being given many chances over many years with three different organizations to change his ways, and not doing so.

I would bet that the Pens would want to try him, but NYR really does not want to give them ADA. Stevie could do like Doug Murray did with Hoffman (acquired Hoffman from the Sens then flipped him back to their division to FLA) , get ADA and flip him to the Pens!!

Just 2 games tonight....with all the cancellations, I don't think the season will end before the Olympics... Best of 5 series in the 1st 2 rounds of the play-offs?

Listen carefully: "Weaponized Cap Space"......I LIKE trolling for 1st rounders in a salary dump, ya"ll. At the end of the night, if you ain't danced in a crowded bar, ya gotta dance with what's left, right? So might as well wait this out a bit, and see what's left (if you're STL). There's only so many teams that could absorb Bozak's salary and STL is against the wall (they've not danced and are desperate...). DET has the space (decent dancing partner in the above analogy....). I like the chance to get Dunn....stats & what video I've had the chance to check out; good positioning, good speed, great passing sense.....I'd take Bozak w/Dunn for Cholo and a 3d all day long....and twice on game day!! I think a 1st would be hard to do unless it was just Bozak. 'Course we could throw in Z's LTIR and ask for a 1st in the package above...…….

As much as I could, I searched for the ADA issues: Toxicity in Jrs/AHL stuck out. Allegations of slurs. The K'Andre story was WAY overblown (even the team said he gave the puck directly to the staff so the could get it to the mounter ASAP....so there's some BS floating around). But the issue w/Georgie has been confirmed in essence (not validation of punches...).

Now, IF the kid was hammered because of his political leanings.....that's a grievance with the NHLPA, IMHO. 'Course the review of the Professional Conduct Clause would need to be known, BUT if the guy supported the President (ANY President….), that shouldn't be held against him. If he advocates for equal treatment...….
is that not what all NHL teams are doing now anyway?!?!?! So it goes to speech; Free is Free. May not like what he has to say, but have to respect the right to say it (along with the standard legal caveats..."Fire" in a crowded theatre, etc...).

I dunno. Based on everything BUT the twitter issue (lower-case "t" intentional...), I sense some toxicity that we don't need in the locker room right now, our guys are too fragile to handle this type of mentality. Now, IF he agrees to counseling/help/etc... as part of the contract, may well be worth it. I know, I know, I know: "MCM, you said HELL NO".... I still say NO, but with qualifiers.

- Jeremy Laura

Good to see Fabbri back, erne....

Like to see what the lines are, but nothing's out yet. Larkin needs a break, so jazzing up the 2d line would be nice. SIT STAAL!!!! Surprised to see Ras go down, I thought he was looking pretty good, same with Smith. Dylan Mc is on the TS along with Fulcher

Good Lord Stanley, Please grant the Wings a solid D-man and a G with chops so things may be able to turn a corner. I know we aren't SCF-bound, but all we ask for is Hope. LGRW!!!

Thing is the Jeff Blashill "no talent" excuse (crutch) must be removed. Yzerman got him NHL caliber players (not Staal) and this team is still failing miserably. Yzerman didn't add stars. But Ryan, Namestnikov, Brome, Stecher, Merrill and Greiss should've improved this team. But they haven't.

No one had any illusion this team was going to make the playoffs. But we thought this team could at least compete and not embarrass themselves. But nothing has changed. Losing Fabbri and Zadina shouldn't cripple a team from winning games. All teams have to play through players being injured or getting covid.

I've been saying this for years now. The Red Wings will never improve under Jeff Blashill. He's simply in over his head as an NHL head coach. He's literally a handicap behind the bench. He gets absolutely nothing out of this team. What more does Stevie need to see? How much more failure will he tolerate?

As for the next 2 versus Tampa... what can I say? Run and hide the children? I know Bertuzzi being injured hurts. But this team lost plenty of games with him in the lineup. The one common denominator the past 6 years of misery has been Jeff Blashill. I still can't believe he's survived 6 years here.

Being outspoken about his political beliefs was always going to make him a lightning rod for many fans and commentators, and make objective coverage of his divorce from the Rangers extremely difficult. It also goes against the general NHL culture of “keep your opinions to yourself.”

But I am skeptical that his political beliefs in and of themselves are the real issue. I’ve always been of the impression that a majority (though by no means all) of NHLers are in fact right-leaning politically, if not necessarily “right wing” in an American context. Support for conservative politicians or causes did not / has not seemed to have any significant impact on the careers of players like Tim Thomas, Brian Rafalski, TJ Oshie, Jack Eichel, Robin Lehner, Brendan Lemieux … you get the idea. For that matter, Ovechkin's public support for Putin hasn't really made a dent in his popularity. Maybe some blowback from randoms on Twitter, but nothing truly scandalous. Even Mickey Redmond will once in a while say something (I remember a “keep the taxes low, boys!” on a broadcast many years ago) that sticks out. It doesn’t bother me, but I notice.

Voting for Trump is not going to get you blackballed from the NHL. Severe anger management issues, using slurs, physical altercations with teammates, and abusing officials, however? That’ll do the trick, especially if it’s a 5+ year pattern that dates back to juniors and through three different NHL organizations. ADA is still an above-average (albeit very high-risk, high-reward) player on a good contract in which he’ll still be an RFA on expiry. The fact that the Rangers are straight walking away from that seems to suggest there’s more going on behind the scenes than is widely known.

As for the Wings specifically -- I would be shocked if Detroit made a play. Detroit was one of the few teams with the cap space to claim him for free, and they passed. Yzerman already drafted and gave up on him once, and ADA doesn't seem to have gotten any better between the ears since then. He's not a kid anymore, he's 25 and has already had a ton of "second chances." Inserting a player that radioactive onto a rebuilding roster -- I just don't see that the benefit would be anywhere close to the risk.

This team needs a fresh message, for sure. I know it’s complicated with the shortened season, but 10 games in the players look like they’re drowning.

You can just see it in their play. They have zero confidence. Then after each loss they have to hear the idiot Head coach saying "unacceptable" 30 times. You know what, Jeff? Your coaching (lack thereof) is unacceptable.

It's too bad because this Red Wings team could really use D'Angelo. Especially on the power play where he excels. But unfortunately, the guy is an A1 douchebag with nothing between the ears. He's a leopard who will never change his spots. He just doesn't "get it." He gets lots of chances because he's very talented at playing hockey. But eventually teams stop giving chances.

This is true, but I still wouldn't claim him. They have a ton of borderline NHL/AHL defenders (Cholowski, Lindstrom, Biega, Hickets, hell even Lashoff) already who could do the job just as well.

There should be an up-rising if he ever utters those words again...Completely inexcusable for a coach to say that. Agree that Blash is over his head, has no way of dealing with decent-caliber talent (yes, we should NOT be embarrassing ourselves..).

G, there have been a few of us who've been beating the same drum since 6 years ago. Blash got into the playoffs because of the team & systems Babs left him, same reason we were bounced in the 1st round that year and ain't been back since.
