D'Angelo is his own worst enemy. All kinds of talent. Nothing between the ears. Yzerman had him in Tampa. Dumped him. I doubt he wants him back.

I just read that there was some sort of fist fight with a teammate before the waiver. This kid needs to get his head together. If Yzerman did grab him, I’d make him live with Bobby Ryan. Someone who’s been to hell and back

Does Ryan know about this?

I would imagine that he has been put under enormous pressure about his political beliefs. And him being an very aggressive individual, is prone to react with violence. A new team may be all he needs, or sitting for a while may have recuperative properties. I can't say, but NYR re-signed him and he is a hockey player which still possesses a much needed ability on the ice that the Wings and many other teams need. Hopefully Stevie can interview him before a decision is made.

I heard Georgiev told him that he was only wearing ONE mask, when he should be wearing at least 2 or maybe even 3 or 4 masks. DeAngelo laughed so Georgiev punched him. That was the final straw!

It is so wonderful that NYR has all this talent that they can literally throw some of it away!

My God, I hope that isn’t true. I have a very good friend who is a doctor. He’s terrified at what wearing masks all the time is doing to people’s respiratory system. Wearing two or three is going to keep all the carbon and bacteria locked in front of you. People are freaking out, it’s been a crazy year. If it actually led to a fistfight then someone is seriously traumatized at this point.

Stevie needs to claim ADA, even if he just uses him for a trade chip...he is worth a risk on rebuilding teams and an asset for free is too good to pass up.

Maybe DeAngelo work would good under Torts.

It’s interesting, I didn’t realize ADA got 5 Norris votes last year. The Rangers are in a tail spin. They are 2-4-2 (Detroit is 2-5-2) but if you look at the roster, they have so many of the pieces Detroit fans wish we had. Lafreniere, Kakko, Trouba, Panarin, Kreisler, Zibanejad. Getting those high draft picks and big name free agents haven’t guaranteed the team anything. A lot has to happen to build a contending team. It’s not fun being at the bottom right now, but it’d feel a lot worse if you had first and second overall picks and 20 million tied up in 2 players with the same results.

In order, I’d try Mete, DeAngelo then Bennet.

Holy Jumpin'.....I go to town for a few hours and the world collapses

OK, so if I HAD to take any of them; Mete. Full Stop. Crap-load of talent, not a lot of baggage or diva-like tendencies. Bennet before ADA; ADA is a train-wreck, Ryan Leaf with skates. ADA needs help, truly. Reclamation projects are cool (I posted about this earlier today, I believe....). Ryan is a flash in the pan, guys. That rare gem that has maturity borne out of consequence and strife. ADA has a mouth, an attitude, and "Karen" qualities. Avoid him like the plague. If he can receive counseling, get his head straight....MAYBE. He would destroy an already fragile DRW locker room mentality. HE would be the catalyst for a complete team melt-down. NO. NO. NO.

Found on-line.....

"The Athletic is confirming rumours swirling on social media of an incident between New York Rangers teammates Tony DeAngelo and Alexander Georgiev. That incident led to DeAngelo being placed on waivers Sunday, while Georgiev was given a "maintenance day" by the team.

"Three sources have confirmed to The Athletic that there was indeed an altercation involving DeAngelo and goalie Alexandar Georgiev in the tunnel that leads to the Rangers' locker room,"said the report by Rick Carpiniello.

The article does not state whether Georgiev punched DeAngelo in the face as many are saying on social media, but it's interesting to note and Rangers coach David Quinn did not deny that something had taken place when questioned by reporters."

Toxicity such as this would destroy the Wings......

You guys know I stay away from the current "environment" because hockey is my refuge.....BUT; I have a VERY good doctor at one of the most-highly respected medical institutions in the world who questions the very same thing you address above, J. His recommendations counter the current CDC recommendations, vastly........

It's a touchy subject, and one each individual has to confront on their own terms. I've always been a believer that you cannot force your opinions on others, nor can you hold other's beliefs against them. Each has to make their own decisions based on their beliefs & understanding of advice/knowledge. If the "incident between ADA & Georgie is true, I fear this is only the beginning of similar incidents becoming all too common, and physical.....

I’d really have to see the context. If this is really about masks, that’s just crazy.

But, when players are having confrontation issues, there is often a personal element. Family loss, kids get sick, and lately more and more substance abuse and gambling problems. Wherever ADA lands, he may need some help. That’s not a slam. The right therapy or program could give him his life back. Everyone’s nerves are fried anymore. Suicide and destructive behavior are spiking everywhere. Not an easy time to be a human

A customer at a CVS I go to lost their s*** and started yelling at everyone. Someone’s mask slid down past their nose and the customer started screaming (literally) bloody murder. Red faced and shouting that the person was a murderer. People are so scarred right now, I pray that more and more can find a good therapist. I can attest they will do FaceTime type appointments now.

[quote=Jeremy Laura] The mask comment may have meant that Georgie needed to hide his ugly face........We really do not know the context. But it would be good to pick him up, even for a trade chip. Could retain some salary and flip him for a at least a 2nd.

Yeah, it's OUT of control. Heck, therapists are doing all kinds of things to help out patients in light of restrictions.

Now, be honest, I would LOVE to see him get the help he needs; he's a kid with potential and needs to recognize there's an issue. Regardless whether or not it's dependency, stress, organic.....there's millions of ways to deal with what ails a person, HEALTHY ways. His agent is doing a huge disservice if he isn't actively engaging ADA to get the help he needs, or set up something, so SOMETHING for this kid.

Again, I defer to my previous statement: His current attitude in the DRW locker room would be the final straw.

My wife was verbally accosted at the local C store after (whilst wearing a mask, mind you) excusing herself passing 2 kids (girls, probably high school age...). My daughter was there, the clerk overheard it and was astounded, all say the same this: "You were just being nice..." In my loving wife's effort to be nice, she was called an "FRANKING KAREN!!! FRANK YOU!!"...as the girls left the C store, one said tot he other: "That beech was a FRANKING KAREN!! Did you see her hair???" My wife wears a bob haircut. Really?? Now, my wife could've easily kicked the ever-loving shirt outta both girls, but to what point? She merely smiled and told the both to "have a wonderful day...". My daughter, on the other hand, channeled her inner-Dad and commenced to prepping the battle-field for an asswhoppin'. But, again, to what end? Momma clamed her down and my Family departed.

We ALL are stressed, we are scared, bewildered, hurting....how we decide to handle this whole thing rests entirely on our shoulders. ADA may have felt it best to deal with perceived slights by using violence (or vice-versa), but regardless, that attitude in OUR locker room will destroy what little sanctity & peace is left.

Get help, ADA. PLEASE. It takes maturity to overcome this crap, sometimes you do have to stand up and defend yourself, but a violent out-burst normally solves nothing.

HH: I sensed some sarcasm in your 1st post, was by no means kicking you in the knee caps, brother. Again, I would opine that getting a guy like Ryan is a one-off. ADA isn't going to be a good reclamation project, IMHO. Not until he gets the help he needs (and heals the way Ryan has....SIGN THIS KID LONG TERM!!!!).

The guy has talent. Stevie will make a more informed decision and with much less hysteria then what is exhibited online. We have more faith in him then the media.

First period thoughts. And did the NHL bring back the tracker pucks?

rst period summary - Apart from the score, a few things jumped out with Detroit’s play in the first period. Smith looks good. Probably the best he’s looked in any given call up. The feed he sent Larkin’s way was beautiful, but his battles also looked good. Ekblad had his hands full with the big winger. Detroit held Florida to 6 shots, many of those on the man advantage. Mantha had a beautiful shot in stride that rang off the bar. It’s been a much better looking period for Detroit. However, I have a theory:

The new NHL pucks may be in use tonight. Passes aren’t exploding off the sticks, and the puck is bouncing in really weird ways. Very similar to the first few games before the trial pucks were removed from play. Whatever is changed on the density of the tracking pucks, it throws players off. Shots that look lined up perfectly well are coming in low or wobbly. Even Larkin’s tally went into the net lower than the stick indicated. I can’t guarantee it, but for whatever reason players are getting hung up shooting, passing and skating. We’ll see if it continues. Overall a good showing by a squad that lost another very important player in Bertuzzi.

Thanks H2. I’m trying. Actually just laying on my side trying to type. The headaches aren’t getting a whole lot better, but I’m trying to push through. I’ll be wearing a blindfold and an ice pack after this one!
