Thanks, Bill.
Bill, how would you rate Giroux defensively these days? It's hard to tell watching TV whether he's floating or properly positioned. I tried to focus on him tonight and he just didn't seem to be doing much defensively ever.

Thoughts from the game:

1st period from the Flyers was amazing due to the fact they were utilizing quick short passes and pressing the puck at all times. Once they started to constantly use stretch passes they ended up looking like that bad team that makes other teams look 10x better.

Morin...much like Bill mentioned. On that Mayfield goal I could not take my eyes off him the whole shift, I just couldn't figure out which position he was playing. I think defense then switched to center.

Ghost...not sure how he got player of the game. He did make an excellent play defensively on the OT Laughton goal, but the rest of the game WOOF. He might want to talk to his team and figure out how they want to play because he is such a flow killer. Everything was great until he started holding onto the puck way too long at the end of the first just to cough it up. Who is worse Ghost or Gus? At least Gus can hit the net sometimes...

What's the deal with the Islanders...ok they are a Trotz coached team, but why are they allowed to play like it's still the 90's? NAK uses a free arm to push a player and gets called for it, ok, but the Islanders literally did that the WHOLE game using their free arm to impede and interfere with guys. No wonder they are a suffocating and hard to play against team...when you can interfere the whole game and not get called for it that can make anyone look good.

I am loving the depth of this team and that's missing Coots and TK from the lineup. Previously I just assumed the Flyers would let Laughton and Raffl walk at the end of the year, but those guys are the kind you really need to win it all.

Final thought...I love when Voracek plays defense because he becomes a hell of a player and creates more offense from it. Please keep doing that Jake!

Can our struggles to put pucks on net be tied to a single issue?.. or is it more a combination of things?

I know we miss coots/niskanen but seriously this is getting ridiculous.

We're going to set records for shooting %

It’s like he wants credit for them drafting generational players like Lemieux and Crosby. A toddler would’ve told you to do the same.

When is the gus experiment over ? Even in the first where we played well he was a problem. For me I feel like the leash has been long enough this guy just doesn't fit the style of hockey AV wants the team to play. Turnover machine.

AV is such an idiot and the team continues to win in spite of him.

We're so unbelievably lucky that our players can carry this dogpoop front office and their crap teammates.

Big 10 Ice hockey season ends around 3/20. A little past the half point of Flyers season. Cam York could slide right into the lineup and be an upgrade. I'm sure York would be exempt from having to protect in the expansion draft, no downside from that angle.

You really think this is an AV thing already?

I’m not trying to antagonize you. Serious question.

Frozen 4 runs until April 10th with the nhl season ending May 8th. I believe York will be with the flyers at that time with the ahl season being over my question is will their be an exception to not burning off a year of the ELC (right now juniors players allowed to play in ahl without burning because of juniors season shutdowns). The burning off a year of ELC is the downside especially if he's not ready.

York is not lighting up college hockey by any measure. Don't you think the best course for him is to play the season in the AHL?

And likewise the Morin experiment, the kid was lost out there after months of trying to switch positions. Its time to move him back to D. I got an idea, why not swap Morin and Gust, and move Gust to left wing?

I completely disagree with you here. Gostisbehere played another solid game. He had a few miscues but otherwise solid. Especially with the way the Isles ramped up the pressure. You alluded to it yourself. Why does a defenseman hold onto the puck? He doesn't have an option.
Gustafsson is horrendous in his own end and is no comparison to the level that Gostisbehere is playing at. Gostisbehere has also done a good job getting pucks to the net since he's been back in the lineup.

The Islanders had a 60% Corsi last night, and in his post game presser AV said that we have to give the Islanders credit. Really? That's the reason? Yes, I can give the Islanders credit for having better players than the Flyers do. How many more games do we need to see before we realize the players on this team are just not good enough?

I dont anticipate seeing much more of Morin. I dont think he was a great defenseman either id feel much more comfortable with hagg in there. Or even Prosser.

As far as York I think hes having an extremely solid college season. The team as a whole has had some bad games but even within those games he was more solid than the rest of them. They've also started to turn into a bit of a hot streak. He scored a goal about a week ago that was placed in one inch window of opportunity. Idk if he's nhl ready or not that's for the organization to decide but idk that a few game trial would hurt him either. Especially playing a safe third pairing role.
