It should almost be expected at this point

As for stick shifts I’m personally more surprised that you can still get them tbh

Blame whoever on D all you want, it will never change the fact that Andersen is simply incapable of making a big save for this team.

He absolutely needs to go.

There are nine people in North America under the age of 30 who can drive stick.
- Atomic Wedgie

That’s sad.

How many of us are left that drove 3 on the tree?

Leafs play the best period in regular season hockey in last 2-3 years, earn a goal through hard work and with dominant and exciting hockey, only to give up a leafy goal in last minute...
Props to wpg and hellebuyk, they got completely outplayed but somehow only trail by one goal..

The moment Muzzin fumbled that puck it was going in the back. If you think any D can play a flawless game, you’re kidding yourself.

Goalies need to make key saves at critical times. This what Andersen has always lacked.

Freddy lets in one goal and this is the reaction.

That shift was a five man disaster, just godawful puck watching. Leafs are brutal in giving up momentum sapping goals in the last and first minutes of periods.

Let me start by saying that I think Andersen has been poor for over a year now. When he's got his swagger and his on his game, he's great. One tell is his glove hand droops when he's not on his game. Watch him now - his glove is down and late. He's not poised.

That said, Hellebuyck is making some great saves, BUT the Leafs aren't being given room time and space to get off a good shot. They are still being swarmed and forced in tight, which lets Hellebuyck get down, cover the bottom half of the net, and get his stick on the ice firm. He isn't being forced to be spectacular.

When the Leafs defense is at its porous best, as it often is, the shooter has room to curl, drag, move, skate, aim, and get that shot off with a lot of force. That's hard for a goalie. The problem with the Leafs D is simply gap control. They give way too much time and space to the shooter or even a possibly deflector.

Well said.

And I agree to a point, my one outlier would be every shooter in the league now aware they can get a beachball through Andersens 5 hole or under his arm 9/10 times. How do you defend that?

Even tonight he has played what I consider to be well (although when it was Campbell in an identical spot the argument was he hadn't been tested), the 5 hole rears its head and its a 2-1 game. 🤷‍♂️

I’m 32 and it’s surprising how many people my age don’t/can’t drive stick.

I used have an old 4 runner. The thing was awesome except the back window goes down for you to drop the tailgate. Window mechanism went and was $700 to replace so it turned into a 4 door car.

Those things go forever though. Had 500k on it and ran great.

4Runners are great! I had a 92 with east coast rust (bad) that my ex and I used to live van life for 6 months, a decade before it was cool. Went Cape Breton to Vancouver to Manitoba and then drove it to work for a year. Best $1200 I’ve ever spent.

Agreed. But that doesn’t change the fact that Freddie needs to make a big save there and play his part. And what happens?

Puck goes right between his arm on their first good shot since the turnover. He needs to be better.
