It just makes him Blue Jays property going forward. Baseball is really dumb. The draft is most entirely for Americans and Canadians or kids playing here.
If they're from the outside, they don't get drafted, and instead get signed like this.
So once this kid is ready, he'll play somewhere in the Jays system, starting in low A Ball.
The money is kinda like a signing bonus, I think. |
