No DeMelo tonight, family issue, Niku is in on 3rd pair with Beaulieu.
Ehlers probably out as well, his is virus related, Copp goes to top line and Vesalainen slots in by the sounds of it, don't know for sure if that's what Maurice will do if Ehlers is ruled out though. |

DeMalo is a new baby so good news which is very good to hear.
Looking forward to seeing Vassalainen 6’3” 210 lbs is a big NHL forward today so hopefully in can at least get in somebody’s way!!
We look very soft again, especially for a season of playing the same teams over and over. |

Give me the Ves-Daddy in the lineup. He seemed to have adopted the “kill everything” approach in the scrimmage, so if he keeps that level of aggression up, he’s gonna be a fun player |

What’s your guys feelings on the game tonight with regards to Tkachuk? Will there be retribution? I think there might be a little in the 1st just to get it out of the way, then they’ll settle down and play hockey. Got 9 games against each other to get it done.
On a good note Flames haven’t won a season opener since 2009

Don't see any retribution coming from the Jets, at least to start the game.
Now if Matthew runs around like a chicken with it's head cut off there might be - just not sure from who. Forbort? Thompson? Two guys whop weren't even here last year. I guess Beaulieu might have another go with Matthew, if necessary. |

Watch it be Scheifele. Just goes out there and bodies him. |

The Jets having two checking, 4th lines who are not at all offensive and will put the pressure on the teams defense and Helly. He will have to be on top of his game as he will be facing over 30 shots per game again this season. I hope Ves gets a chance to play tonight and it will be interesting to see if Niku will be allowed to play his rushing offensive style or will he just follow Maurices orders to dump the puck to center and hope a forward is there to tip it into Calgary's end. |

Ehlers IN ! - bennythehat
I was actually looking forward to seeing the altered lineup just for tonight with Vesalainen on the third line and Copp gets his one shot on the top line. However, that all being said, it is a much shorter season and so EVERY game matters that much more.....so Ehlers it is.
Enjoy the game everyone. Enjoy the Jets ! I really hope we can win this first one because you just know the naysayers will be out in full force if the Jets lose. |

That 5 forward powerplay f*cks, and needs to be used at 5v4 too.
Whoever had that idea in here, I tip my cap to you. You were right |

Please don’t trade Laine.
Lemon Chevy must see that by now? |

I think the play on the blueline is to bench Poolman and Beaulieu for Heinola and Samberg |

If that was the player line he will be game in game out then do what you can to keep him. That was his best game as a Jet. |

Very happy Ehlers played but I was also looking forward to what you said.
I’m shocked how little Maurice plays Ehlers, I mean he needs more PP time and 3-3 time, it has to start coming at wheelers expense.

I thought Niku earned another game in the lineup. Next guy up is DeMelo.
I didn’t like Bealieu’s game tonight, some 💩 decisions and more 💩 timing. |

Entertaining game! Great tenacity by the Jets on the comeback.
Laine and Ehlers were obviously very good. Statsny showed he's still got lots left in him and won a lot of the more important faceoffs. The Jets are bigger and tougher this year on the third and fourth lines and that made some difference against the Flames.
I was hoping Niku would have a better game and his first half was decent but then he really made a lot of bonehead plays in the third and was getting easily outmuscled off the puck. Heinola is already the better player so Niku's days are numbered. I think Maurice may have benched him for the last 6 minutes.
Nice comeback win !!!
Every game is a so called "four-pointer" this year.

I wondered if he would be starting the 3v3 instead of jomo, I agree that he is made for that type of hockey. |

Poolman had a horrible first but was much better in the 2nd and 3rd. Niku started good but was man handled far too many times and had a horrible third. With that said, I’d take Beaulieu out before either of them. |

Niku was terrible for most of the night, had a particularly bad shift in the 3rd period, can't see him getting back in the lineup unless injuries really pile up. |

Looked like a young Ovie out there tonight. The talent is obvious, what about the coaching? |
