The Merkley move appears to be a hope that all teams are constrained and cannot claim anybody. Of course the Canadians lost a former first round pick to waivers yesterday. I hope Merkley clears. Furthermore I hope Fitz uses the waiver wire claims to the Devils advantage over the coming months. Things could get interesting.

In addition to the players placed on waivers, Schnarr, Seney, Bahl, Okhotiuk, Walsh, and Cormier have been assigned to Binghamton

Bahl has me excited. He looked good. Glad he'll get adequate time to develop in the AHL

Another strong member of the pipeline.

The Devils youth hasn't been this promising in ages.

same for Walsh. And we'll see about that pipeline. Not that long ago we thought Urbom would be a 2nd pair guy and we see how that worked out. Santini too.. he was supposed to be a steal where we picked him. you just never know. I caught the 3rd period of the last scrimmage. Hughes did some good things, but as a whole I saw one weak team against another weak team. Where was the star power? we have none. The offence looked lost at times, defense with big mistakes in coverage.. they looked the like the Devils. Even if you take the best from both teams, you're still left with a below-average NHL team, which we all knew they'd be. I know it's camp and all.. but I really don't expect much from this group, including Lindy. Hischier should inject some life into the forwards, but he can't carry us.

I talk as if it matters. meh. another development year. another top pick. hopefully he's a game changer.

Let's hope Jacobs and White get picked up (doubt they do tho...). It would be nice to give Bahl/Shak/Walsh/Okhotyuk the bulk of the top 4D responsibilities. Smith especially if he doesn't somehow make the Dev's squad.

With Crawford retiring any chance we bring back KK? Some slim pickens on that waiver wire for goalies.

I guess we don't really have a top line LW and just plug everyone in

I am guessing when Nico is back he pushes the centers down and McLeod will be a scratch or travel squad and when bratt comes back will go top line and sharongovic goes to 4th or kouk or Bastian is a scratch

Wonder who vats will play with

Comrie - Why? A career .868 NHL save percentage (granted small sample size) only screams we want the best lottery odds.

Because we needed a 3rd goalie. Either Senn and Cormier play in the AHL, or Cormier stays as the taxi squad goalie and Comrie backs up in the AHL

RE to no left winger based on the new line up today. Ruff intentionally was mixing up the lines. He said as much prior to practice. Opening line up looking like:
Johnsson-Hughes-Palms
Shanangovich-Zacha-Gusev
Koukkonen-Boqvist-McLeod
Wood-Zajac-Bastian

Murray-Subban
Smith-Severson
Butcher-Kulikov

Blackwood
Wedgewood

Extras: Nico (injury), Bratt(Visa) vatanen(visa) Carrick
