No surprise that DET probably won’t contend, but as I stated previously; a deep-dive into the metrics will show if we’re improving (PP, PJ, GF, GA, 5v5, etc....). But more-so, I think individual stats, then line stats will be indicators. So; macro then micro analysis. The problem is that the divisional break-downs won’t enable anyone to do that type of analysis, I think. We don’t play the same teams as the normal divisional set-up. BUT, we can still get some good data. I’m not betting on play-offs, but there’s got to be some improvement....we were scalded last year. That can’t happen again.

Next year, hopefully, we’ll be back to “normal”, some guys will depart and the younger kids will have the chance to step up. Am really hoping Veleno, Seider, Raymond, and Soderblom show up next year. I think we’d get the chance to see them (some of them, anyway) at the end of the season. THAT’S when the excitement will shoot through the roof. There are some really promising kids that’ve yet to make a camp, so seeing them in the Fall will be cool.

Unfortunately, I think we’ll have a COVID issue which will hamper the “season”. Wondering what contingency plans the NHL has in place to absorb a nation-wide shut down....

Regardless, there’s hope. The light at the end of the tunnel isn’t a train anymore!!!

I'm trying to justify spending $90 on NHL.TV. I know the Wings will suck. They won't have any top prospects for the excitement factor. Just can't decide.

Don't get FSD heh? $90.....if you are stuck at home a lot it might be worth it. Just don't hurt yourself too bad after all the loses!

Hey all, i put my first two periods of notes up. Fabbri/Zadina/Namestnikov is the best line tonight. Fabbri got the first goal with assists by Namestnikov and Zadina. Zadina is stealing pucks and getting shots. Givanni Smith scores after intercepting a Larkin pass going almost coast to coast. Filppula scores, having a good game too. 3-0 White.

Larkin line takes time to click. They need to gain confidence as much in possession as in scoring. Too much pressure to put the puck in causes some frustration. Greiss is a difference maker. He’s a beast! Staal-Stecher look really good. Dekeyser-Lindstrom also playing well.

I just added my final notes. 6-2 final after 3 periods and 3v3. Fabbri line was out of their minds. Zadina had a sick backhand goal in OT. Namestnikov and Brome both look like really good pickups. Brome really solid on the PK. Greiss is a beast!!!

Thanks for bringing that! It looks like 43 on waivers:

Man, there’s a part of me that would like to believe Josh Ho Sang could be a reclamation project. The problem seems to be that his attitude isn’t great in the room. Our room needs an “all in all the way” type vibe. If someone on the team can vouch for him....

Ouellet is available. I’m not sure that stirs the drink a whole lot just for the sake of a reunion. Zack Trotman was an exciting prospect D man once upon a time. We just have a glut of depth players, and anyone you pick up has to stay on your roster. I’m not sure if I’m seeing that

Yzerman doesn't like players with attitude problems. See Drouin and D'Angelo. Ho-Sang seems to have NHL talent. Some team will claim him. I just can't see Yzerman doing it. But never say never.

We need to get HoSang NEXT year. Then when we play Pittsburgh once again he can wear jersey #66!!!!

That’s where I’m at. Same draft as Larkin, Fabbri, Perlini. Such a mixed bag first round. If the kid is ready to fight for a job, could be a nice pickup. I’ve heard the same as you. Just doesn’t work well with others

The rebuild is going slowly but moving forward. Once some vets move on more cap for pieces. Need at top 6 C is a big fix to get done. Scoring should be the focus while young D develop. Healthy cap space won’t be wasted while SY adds short term vets contracts. In goal is a priority. In the meantime the Wings should focus on being competitive being a high energy team. Still 2-3yrs of pain to go.

Noah Juulsen would be an upgrade on defense.

You said that perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised to see how well Fabbri fared at center in the scrimmage. His line with Zadina and Namestnikov looked like they’d been together for a long time. I freely admit that I haven’t been completely sold on him at center, but would love to be wrong.

That aside, you absolutely can’t get “too deep” at center. The ‘09 Penguins (yeah, I know) had Staal as a third line center. What a fantastic amount of depth. Would love a top 6 centerman. Thanks for taking the time to lay that out. Nicely done

Great play by play, it definitely sounds like Greiss is the dependable backstop Wings need to get through those one goal games.

What are your thoughts on Brome? Will he have a chance to stick around and make an impact?

Based on his performance the last year and a half in Sweden, and also the fact that he's looked good in camp so far, I'd suspect he's capable of about half a point per game in the NHL if given the opportunity (i.e., second or third line deployments and not just grinding out 11 minutes a night with Erne and Glendening).

I do. I didn’t know how physically engaging he was. Really aggressive penalty kill, he’s a three zone player. Looked really good

Thanks for that! Greiss made so many good stops. Point blank robbed Mantha multiple times. He’s a breath of fresh air

I took a looooong reach in a very deep fantasy league with Berggren.
Was hoping for at least an invitation, can't find anything on him.
Is he Sweden-bound for all season due to his contract?
