Those quotes by Oskar and Hart speak to their character.

Just looking ahead at next year ( even though this year has yet to begin) in regards to roster moves ..trades, it looks like the Flyers could be in CAP trouble with Hart, Sanheim, Patrick, and Laughton all RFA'S. It looks like only Raffl and Elliott come off the books.
Does Fletcher have to make some kind of move now while teams are finalizing rosters?
Does he wait until deadline or pray for Seattle to take a big $ player? Should be interesting.

I wanted to carry this comment over because I think it’s important. Everyone remembers when Scottie Upshall was traded for a much cheaper and less talented Dan Carrillo, which also made space to call up a very young Claude Giroux. I think the Flyers have to make the same type of move if Morgan Frost is truly deserving. I don’t think the Flyers can afford to wait on the expansion draft with the assumptions that Settle will save us from James van Riemsdyk. If Frost is ready, it’s unfair to make him wait when we probably should move on from a Michael Raffl or Shayne Gostisbehere.

Two Florida prospects Levi vs Knight for the gold. Yet they still have Bob for 6 more years, $60 mil. What a franchise.

I responded in the other thread as well, but it looks like they have Elliott, Raffl, Gus coming off. Then the buyout cap hit from AMAC and Schlemko. That total was about 8.6M after this season.

And you’d also lose someone to Seattle, the backup role will need to be filled.

Still could be tight. I don't necessarily see Laughton or Sanheim getting huge bumps. But if Hart plays well again he could get a pretty significant raise.

I don't know what the play is honestly. There's a decent chance they don't take a big contract from the Flyers.

I seriously doubt Gostisbehere is with the team after this season. I would not be surprised if he wasn't here at the end of this season.

I think the flat cap is playing havoc with all teams, making them gun shy when it comes to making deals they would otherwise be making.

Agreed on all counts. Best case scenario re ghost imo is that he gets in some games and plays pretty well raising his value and allowing us to trade him before the tdl. Teams are probably rightly shy to take on his 4.5 mil cap hit for 3 more years without assurance he can be the ghost of old. I expect fletch took calls, but teams wanted the flyers to retain salary and we are trading from position of weakness really.

Levi was drafted in the 7th round, so good for them if he pans out. Raises his trade value if they don't need him

Bobrovsky will be their guy for a while. Not all goaltenders are thrown in right away. It took Price two seasons to make it to the NHL, and then another 3 to be the starter. I would think that's their plan for Knight as well.

on Dubois...do you think Flyers consider flipping Ghost for him? Not a big cap difference ~500K more for us.

Laughton is a free agent after the season. He is the type of player you need to let walk and not overpay in a cap world. I would think he wants to cash in at this point in his career. This is a spot you need fill in internally. Hopefully someone steps up to fill that role.

best case is the Ghost plays well and so does Gus, the Flyers trade Ghost and get a decent return for him. The dream, Ghosts quickness is back he plays lights out and you don't want to trade him

Laughton is a key player for this team. He is the kind of player that is not difficult to sign. He should be kept.

I think the Flyers have shown that they will play the younger players if they feel they are ready and can contribute. I also think the Flyers have shown that they are not afraid to sit veteran players out, as they did last year with JVR and Ghost. Finally, I don't think anyone has the expectation that Seattle would take JVR off our hands, why would they do that? Given how the LV Knights built their team by avoiding drafting players like JVR, I would imagine Seattle will follow a similar formula.

How good is Colorado going to be in the near future? They are already a serious cup contender but after watching the WJC, they have some players coming in that I believe will push them to a very elite level. Really impressive drafting by the Aves!

That is your opinion he is a key player. You say he is not the kind of player who will be difficult to resign. What do you think then it will take to resign him?

At this juncture you let Raffle walk. He has been a solid NHL player; one who doesn't get the respect he has earned. Though you need to replace him internally with an entry level contract.

If you are the GM what offer do you make to Laughton to keep his service's?
