I always liked Callahan. I wasn't a fan of his contract, but always liked him and rooted for him. It's too bad the injuries were starting to take a toll during his Tampa years. He brought grit, sandpaper, toughness, work ethic, and all those quasi-intangibles that round out a player's game. The old saying is a cliche, but it was true with Callahan - the guy left it all out on the ice. No matter what the game situation was. He brought 110%.

Off-topic, but this is an interesting article about hockey during other "bad" years - the 1917 flu pandemic, World War 2, etc.
