Army gets little credit (broken record time here) because of the city and market. We get it, it's borderline mid-market, not on the coast, in Canada, or Vegas. Despite a recent Cup, the Blues get about the same press and respect as Carolina. Even Hockey Central picked the Avs and GK to be the "heavy hitters" in the West, as if either of them have either won anything recently, or been around for more than 15 minutes.
Fact is, Armstrong is a top-three GM in this League right now -- as in relevancy over the past decade. The Blues have iced the team with I believe the best regular season record over that span, a CF Finals appearance and a Cup within the past five years alone. All with a budget that looks nothing like what the Rangers, Leafs or Kings are blessed with. |
