What Dubas said: bring as few onto the taxi squad as possible. Not sure if losing having games in Toronto would complicate things.

There is only Robertson Sandin & Lehtonen of note that are exempt. Nobody else would get max cap relief. Still have to shed 1m. Easy enough.

the blurb didn't say so. only salary is affected but still, do the taxi squad players count towards the cap as well?
if they loan the player to the AHL then said player is subject to the waiver wire rules.

edit: It sound like you can bury the league minimum 1,079 mil ish to the taxi squad . the rest count towards you nhl cap

If Sandin, Lehtonen and Robertson all make the team, I don’t think it’s a huge gamble if there are non waiver exempt players (Marincin and others) on a taxi squad that might be, gasp, vulnerable.

As much as I liked the Aaron Dell signing, I can not picture a scenario where Dell does not get picked up by another team via the waiver wire. Am I wrong? I hope that I am wrong.

I think you have a version of Thornton in your mind that doesnt exist anymore. I think we'll see Kerfoot back at C within a couple weeks. Or maybe even a trade if Jumbo is as slow as he's likely to be.
