Seems you're completely ignoring Demko who is likely given the starter job over Holtby. I hate the Nucks but they should be the other playoff team with Toronto, not Edmonton.

Markstrom is a good goalie, but he's athletic and thrives on lots of shots and action. He was a great match with the Canucks' poor defence last year, but you should prepare yourself for the possibility that he may not produce the same results in a different situation where he isn't as engaged throughout the game.

Is this based on the four good games or the middling body of work he normally posts?

Edmonton as playoff lock? They couldn't even get past Chicago last year.

He thrives on having a poop defence in front of him? Canucks bled chances last year worse than almost any team in the league. Markstrom will get a boost playing behind actual defence

Sam Cosentinos projected Team Canada forwards:

Connor McMichael – Dylan Cozens – Kirby Dach

Peyton Krebs – Quinton Byfield – Graeme Clarke

Dylan Holloway – Alex Newhook – Jakob Pelletier

Connor Zary – Dawson Mercer – Philip Tomasino

“How many times did Gaudreau have a clear cut break and fail to convert? It had to be comfortably in the double digits.”

Not going to debate the entire blog but I couldn’t leave without addressing this. If you watch every highlight of Gaudreau on a breakaway or shootout you would know he does the same exact move every time. If he changed it up just once his odds of scoring would increase drastically but considering he didn’t figure this out half way through last year I would be surprised if he suddenly has.

Sorry are you thinking that EDM or Van will be better than the Flames?

Hey Todd, You can’t possibly think that EDM will be better than the Flames?
Last season they had a next level performance by their top two players, and still barely were ahead of an underperforming Flames team.

lol

Remember new coach new systems new structure and most important new goalie coach with different philosophies. Markstrom thrived mostly as he subscribed to Ian Clark's teachings...expect him to start with a bit of a step back in CGY even if they have a 'better defense'

They were the best CDN team in the league when Covid-1984 hit then the league shut down...you don't expect them to be there again? realistically? lol

Anyone who knows Hockey knows the play in round was a joke and it should have been the top 16 teams in the PO's period.
