Seriously Has no one been paying attention These goofy governors in major US states have shutdown again, so do you really think hockey is going to happen without people in the seats. If you do, you are dumber than I thought

Not sure what the above comment has to do with this blog..? Or who you're talking to.
Are you personally affected by those COVID shutdowns in the states?
Do you think that by not shutting down, (and therefore letting people die), that this will get people back in arena seats faster?
And lastly, by calling people stupid, does that make you, therefore, smart?
Show some respect to the healthcare workers in this country who are working to keep you safe.

You are probably not aware so I will enlighten you
In the USA someone dies every 11 seconds
Also 323 people die every hour
2.8 million people die every year
15000 people every day reach social security age
11,000 births occur every day
Death is a part of living We will all face it What you are seeing is shutting down
a country when this pandemic has the percentages in your favor
People die every day You cannot save everyone Wake up

So we have some Dodo bird who thinks that, because everyone does eventually die, we should be cool with letting a quarter million folks die from a pandemic. Unfortunately, the virus doesn't just kill idiots.

Assuming a death rate of COVID is even just half a percentage point, and the US population is ~330 million, that means a death rate of 1.65 million, or about half the deaths of the entire war in Vietnam over a 15 year period.

So yeah. I'd say I'm awake and have a passable knowledge of math.

It's rich to hear "wake up" from people who just spit Fox News talking points.

It kills mostly elderly people with comorbidities.

Johns Hopkins just released a study (before they had to hide it). Said, Covid has not increased mortality in the US.

Genevieve Briand, assistant program director of the Applied Economics master’s degree program at Johns Hopkins University, critically analyzed the impact that COVID-19 had on U.S. deaths. According to her, the impact of COVID-19 on deaths in the United States can be fully understood by comparing it to the number of total deaths in the country.

According to study, “in contrast to most people’s assumptions, the number of deaths by COVID-19 is not alarming. In fact, it has relatively no effect on deaths in the United States.”

Interesting. So if deaths have stayed steady but so many have died from the disease then where did the balancing number come from? Less deaths in vehicle accidents from staying home? Less germs being swapped cause masking? I wonder where the counter weight is in that argument....

There's been so much "shady sh!t" with the cause of deaths over the pandemic, we likely will never know the real mortality rate of Covid. Once it became political, I knew the public would never be allowed to know the statistics. Fear porn is all the media is selling. A couple of months ago I read an interesting article about the dramatic drop in flu deaths.... Did the flu just disappear? I think we all know the answer to that.

Did you ever wonder why the media never reports how many people have recovered instead of incessantly repeating the number of positive tests? Can't have people thinking they'll likely be OK if they get it. Fear is a much better method of control.

Pretty funny stuff bronc.

So the world...yes not your little freedom hole you live in...but the entire world is taking counter measures to combat a worldwide pandemic, but it is all an elaborate scheme by US politicians to restrict your rights and freedoms.

(frank) me, some of you guys just want to be belligerent with no concept of reality.

Keep up the good fight, it’s keeping me in stitches...

Sometimes when you buy a product on Black Friday it doesn’t do everything you want and sometimes it does weird things you didn’t think it would.

When has this scenario happened to anyone in the history of black friday?

Anyone catch the article in The Athletic that Rossi and Yohe put together about failed Penguin trades/moves that almost happened? They teased that Selanne almost became a Penguin and Backstrom, guessing we were going to take him over Staal. I know there was talk previously about how Pittsburgh almost drafted Subban but picked Angelo Esposito. Just curious what the main moves were since I dont subscribe to The Athletic.

The Jordan Staal pick remains one of the most interesting elements of this generation and how different things could have been. If we drafted Toews or Backstrom and they performed the same way they have in their careers, (A big difference between being #3 on PITT versus #1 in CHI/WSH), I bet Malkin would have been traded after the 2009 Cup run or collapse in 2010.

Yeah that was an interesting read even though I knew about a few of those already. Having Selanne all those years ago would have been amazing. He ranks near the top of my all-time favorite players. This site even got a mention in the article
