In your opinion what do you see them resigning Couturier for when the time comes they can resign him? I think that is this summer or is it January 2022 they can sign an extension?

Not Bill, but I see it generally working out that Coots and Giroux switch cap hits.....Not exact amounts of course but the general area.

I think that only time will tell due to covid. I am not sure how long the league can operate with little or no attendance revenue. I think at some point, teams will fold, the cap will collapse, and no one will have a plan on what to do.

hopefully they go year to year with Giroux. There is no doubt he stays here just a matter of how much and how long.

I seriously doubt Giroux or the team will do a year to year thing. My guess would be 3 or 4 years.

Then that is a mistake on the teams part imo. At most go 2 years.

Based on the vaccine info that is streaming in nowadays, looks like everything will be largely back to normal by fall 2021.

Since the league has had two extensive lockouts in the past 15 years of its own doing, it seems highly unlikely anything will fold based on this one.

Absolutely. I was thinking closer to 5.5 or 6.

I'm not totally confident that G will end his career in Philly. I'd like to see it happen, but cap/roster realities could make it hard. It just takes one other team to offer him greater security and maybe a better chance to win and all bets would be off.

Imagine Coots will graduate to G's cap hit. Carter Hart will have graduated to Coots' cap hit+. Doesn't leave much $ left for Giroux, sadly.

Sadly you may be right unless he takes a hometown discount.

Agree. I see a three year deal. Feel a one year would be a slap in the face. I know it’s a business but still.

I do not think Giroux wants to leave; if he did he would have been moved by now.

He will be 34 years old. Over 1100 games played at that point. Be a mistake imo to give him a long term deal of 4 years for any significant cap hit. Many believe he didn’t look good this year. At some point the cord needs to be cut. Regardless who the player is and what he has done

Hard pass on G getting a 3 year deal by the time this one is up.

Didn’t he hesitate when asked the question this past year. And referred to where his kid went to school. Almost insinuating ending his career in Montreal. Being a Quebec kid I can understand the reasoning.
