I wouldn’t expose Merkley given other available options along with his untapped potential. Yes, he may be a bust but the sample size is way too small to even know what he will become in 2-3 years. Keep him around and see what he develops into.
Much rather leave Miles Wood exposed. No sense to keep him. We already know he’s one dimensional (speed and no hands) and likely a bust. |

Came here because it appears the Devil's writer has abandoned us. I would agree that it is more likely you see Wood or McLeod exposed than Merkley. But is matters greatly what each shows this year and that will be the deciding factor. Would not be surprised PK is exposed. Doubt he gets taken. |

I think who gets exposed beyond PK and Crawford depends on how certain players develop this season. Merkley may end up being a bust but all things being equal, I would rather see Wood, Zacha, or McLeod on the exposed list. |

I understand the Zacha hate, I just don't agree with it. For a third line center at that price Point, who is still at a young stage there might be some improvement as opposed to an over 30 declining asset, he is a good fit for a rebuilding team. Plus his work on the penalty kill is commendable. |

I agree. Jury is still out on Zacha’s future. |

I would protect Merlkley and Kuokkanen over MeLeod and Wood (unless one surprises this year).
Assuming Smith, Bahl, Walsch are all exempt I'd protect Murray over White if Murray stays healthy and signs extension. If Murray is no longer with team, I'd protect Subban and trade him at the deadline to get something for him.

I understand the notion about PK but with the roster you currently have the team NEEDS someone to draw fans in. PK, even though overpriced) will keep the fans entertained as he plays with his heart in his sleeve (sometimes too much so). Otherwise current mock roster isn’t going to entertain very long and that’ll cost in the financial department quickly. San Jose needed that someone to keep fans entertained when they did their expansion draft hence they selected Owen Nolan. Expansion draft isn’t all about players it’s about business also. |

Thanks for the post. Todd left NJ and we are lucky if we get one post a month from this new guy who doesn’t even consider Bratt part of our core moving forward.
Extremely refreshing to see you protect Bratt.
I have to agree with other posts. I would expose Wood. I can see P.K making sense and I feel that he would embrace the new hockey community in Seattle very well, but his cap hit really doesn’t hurt NJ at this point, if he is given the right minutes in the right role I believe he can provide more value for us than a wood or what he could fetch back in a trade at the deadline. |

The same reason for the Kraken to take Subban (eat salary and trade for assets for a player with 1 year left on his deal) is the same reason the Devils shoulnd't expose Subban. Why give the guy away when you can do the same thing at the deadline? |

In this marketplace, his recent mediocre performance and age concerns, even with 50% retained I do not see the Devils getting much in return. Might as well keep him or expose him. |

Fitzy will make a deal for Seattle to take Subban along with a pick or retention of Salary. The Deal Gets the Krakken closer to the floor, a person who does Great Work in the community great for PR. Similar to deal that Vegas made on their Expansion Draft. Vegas Stockpiled picks grabbing aging players contracts, the Krakken do the same |

You’re right, you don’t.
I’d take on Subban though, play him in fair weather minutes and then sell high at the tdl. He’s way over the hill but they can eat contract to get a really good pick or prospect back. |

Also very good marketing tool for a team that'll be lacking players to do it with |
