For some reason, I think Favell wore the orange mask prior to October 31, 1971.
We had a 14 game ticket plan during the 71-72 season. One of my first souvenirs was a yearbook and I went to a game prior to Thanksgiving. The yearbook cover has Favell in the orange mask. I doubt the first printing of the yearbook was done post-Halloween.

Soo, if I understand correctly, Rubtsov is playing on the Sochi 4th line?
Our 10th best prospect (according to the Athletic) and #1 pick from 4 years ago is no better than a 4th line player on the worst club in their division?
Perhaps I am missing something, but isn't this disappointing?

Yeah he hasn't been the most blazing first round pick we have ever had. But in fairness it was a pretty weak draft and there aren't very many players drafted after him that have been lighting it up either. Except maybe Alex Debrincat who we also passed on in the second round. But we did pick carter Hart in the 2nd round as well and got some decent returns in the later rounds with Bunnamon and Twarinski. Wade Allison may also end up being a player for us as well.

Sure, my comment wasn't really directed towards Flyers drafting or anything general. It was more towards that kid in particular. The trend lines don't seem so good to me.

Memory is sometimes wrong. I was at that game on October 31st. I would have bet the ranch his mask was entirely orange - not stripes. - FlyersFanInPhoenix
Definitely orange in 70-71 and at least a portion, if not all of 71-72. For 72-73, it was sunburst.
