Yes, but it's also the team that's set up the best for the future.

No player signed beyond 2 years except Larkin. Lots of upcoming draft picks and lots of players on short-term contracts who can be traded for futures. Lots of young forwards with high ceilings in the pipeline.

Yzerman will basically have a clean slate. Really building a team from scratch is a great privilege in this league.

Haha I absolutely was talking about these guys’ picks for Seattle...I agree with him on Detroit though, they’ll be good again no doubt..they’re in good hands with Yzerman

😂

You're 100% right on Seattle! They'll be nowhere near Vegas for their first seasons. No GM will make the same mistake of giving them players or picks for free like we've seen with McPhee.

Hard to say, I guess we’ll see but I can see them getting a ton of picks and extra players for taking on big contracts from teams. That’s my guess anyway, can they offer sheet players ? Cuz there’s a bunch of good RFAs next year too. Also a lot of UFA’s like Ovechkin and Getzlaf among others. Don’t think they would go to Seattle for a second, but to a team that needs space to sign those guys . They would send good assets to Seattle so they can. I would be surprised if this hockeybuzz panel gets even five players right lol

Why not take someone like Timashov that will at least be rights' protected for another few seasons? IMO, Seattle shouldn't be shopping for the best of bad contracts.

If there're no fans for another year or two there's no chance Seattle will take bad contracts from other teams, they'll aim for the floor.

Also I wonder if the political situation in Seattle will have an influence on potential UFAs. I doubt anybody will want to sign there if it's still borderline civil war in a year.
