Hopefully the AHL will at least be able to play a shortened season.

As someone who is dealing with a parent with Dementia, I know what AV is going through. Fortunately for me, my Father although he has an altered mental state, he still recognizes his family. Taking care of a loved one with Dementia is quite a challenge.

Im sorry to hear this. My girlfriends mother is also suffering from dementia. She has her good days and bad days but is slowly being lost. Its a sad thing to witness. And she is in a home in NJ and with all this covid it has accelerated everything because of the strict visiting rules.

My mother is in the final stages. She no longer recognizes anyone including my sister who she lives with. She has created an alternate reality where she was never married nor had kids. It happens very fast, like within the past 2 years.

I will pray for AV's mom. That's a sad situation for sure

We easily could've legitimately contended for the cup this year if we weren't held back by the staff.

It's really devastating to see a loved one go through this. There's nothing that you can do about it and you feel helpless. I'm with you here and my thoughts and prayers go out to you.

I forgot about Joel Otto being on the team during the Lindros era. That team really should have won a cup.

Sorry you and your family are going through this. This is my biggest fear with my 85 year old parents.

They really have only been able to Zoom with her every week since the pandemic. That is a hit and miss proposition. And only been able to visit with her twice in person since the pandemic started. And only then for a short time and outside. Now that it is getting cold that option will soon disappear.

It has accelerated the process.

Veey sorry to hear that. My dad could not recognize me during the final year of his life (brain cancer). I know how very hard that is emotionally.

Glad they are ok. I remember you mentioning them, and being somewhat gloomy about your retirement portfolio as well in March. I hope you stayed put and did not get out of the market (in which case it should have recovered)

I feel for AV. My own mother has dementia. While not as advanced as AV's mom it's still very tough. Any change to their routine can really bring on a lot of confusion and frustration on their end.

Otto was a beast. Their center lineup was top notch. Lindros, Otto, Brind'amor. Dang.

So sorry to hear this. My father had dementia the last several years of his life, with it being progressively harder to communicate with him as time went on... my mother did a heroic job caring for him. One thing that came as a surprise to me is that when Dad passed away, I was still absolutely flattened emotionally... the fact that we couldn't really speak with him much was nothing compared to actually losing him.

Re Joel Otto: Happy Birthday! He was a great 3rd line center for the Flyers back int he mid-90's. To think the Flyers had Lindros, Brind'Amour, and Otto as their centermen... that's a lot of talent and depth down the middle.

Thanks. I'm thankful that they are in such great shape. They live on their own and are very independent and active. I'm hanging in there with my retirement. I'm trying not to look at it.

My mom was in a fetal position for about three centuries/years (feels/Real).
I had her warehoused.
I consider this to be the worse circumstances of my life. You love them but you would prefer them dead. So you put them in the best environment possible and their bodies fight and struggle to stay alive as long as possible.
I visited about two hundred times +. I bought her a stereo and made it so it couldn't disappear. I bought clothes, got her hair done bi-weekly, nails. She just shrunk and shrunk in her mind and body until there was literally nothing left. It was a painless passing for her and took but a moment.
For me the pain began when she couldn't respond to my chatter and then it became worse when she didn't seem to be able to care to.
I want a dissecting aneurysm.
