We’re not giving up Boychuck we’ll have plenty of cap space after the Rangers offersheet Barzal but we don’t really have cap issues. The Rangers will play Barzal on the wing and this will give trotz the opportunity to move Johnston up into his rightful spot in the top 6. Then we’ll trade Ladd and a 2025 third to the Rangers for futures and all will be right in the world.

There's a lot of conspiracy theories in this spiel. haha. Not to worry. Your two best players are unsigned, and you have the GM of the year. I am sure Barzal is eager to ink an extension when looking at the term and age of all these contracts.

What I find interesting with all this speculation about the Islanders, Barzal, Pulock, Lou, etc... Is that everyone still believes that this organization is run azz backwards.

If the Islanders go more than a 8 mill over 5 years for Barzal right now it would be a mistake. Yes Barzy is the No.1 Center, yes he has a high skill set but he young and makes a ton of mistakes. I would even go 8.5 over 3 years.

What people fail to realize is that this team has become a place that players want to go to. That players that are here want to stay here. The building, practice facility, and direction of this team are no longer a question.

Lou needs sometime to work things out. Personally I think he is waiting on arbitration. Looking to see what the rates or Barzy and Pulsy would be. Maybe he signs them to a one year deal. It give him more time to make moves and evaluate the team without having to drop assets.

And for those who think the Rags are sitting in the drivers seat with the ability to make Barzy an offer. Just remember the door swings both ways.

One thing I’m pretty certain of is Barzal being signed and him wanting to sign.

BS. How can it be a summary when you are the ONLY person who has said we should keep Boychuk.

Done: Boychuk, Ladd, Hickey, Komorov..... everyone knows them 4 players are a done in the NHL, waste of time and doe. Why they didn't buy them out the last couple years or try and trade, a big fuk up by the GM. $17m in cap space on $hity players that could be used for Barzal, Pulock and some other UFA addition. Suck it up GM.

It is funny to listen to the Lou haters here. This guy has done nothing right?

1. He did not bring the best possible available coach to the Island...Nope.
2. He has not worked on trying to build up the prospect pool...Nope.
3. He did not make this team relevant in the two years he has been here...Nope.
4. The team he assembled and the coach that he selected have not produced the best
playoff finishes since 1993...Thats 1993...Nope.
5. He has not created a respectful winning culture...Nope.

6. He is trying to move contracts that Snow had issued in Ladd. Hickey and
Boychuck...All of which we knew were going to be problems way before Lou was a
thought. but its Lou fault. Yup.
7. Leo was on him...Not sure he had much of a choice. Yup.
8. Clutterbuck, CC these are Lou's fault too??? Yup.

You cannot inherit crap and expect to get rid of the bad taste in five minutes. Add the Pandemic... Wait that's Lou's fault too...

Lastly, those who thought too much for JGP and Greene are also delusional. They have done nothing but excel here. But thats Lou's fault...

Heck we might as well add Ben's crappy blog's to Lou's fault lately.

I’m with you on that. I would hate to see 3-4 million used on players along those lines when we could’ve applied that to Toews. I get it we need to fill the bottom six but just plug Johnston in there and hope Wahlstrom can slot in on the third line. Always liked Martin but it’s time to move on IMO.

I agree with most of your post, but in the interest of accuracy........ Hickey was re-signed to his current contract by Lou, not Snow.

Really cannot argue with the success of Lou these two years with the Isles. The Leo and Hickey signings were dumb though.
