7 year contracts to 30 year old players always work out. I’m sure this wont result in an expensive buyout or a trade scenario that requires VGK to give up 1st rounders or draft picks to offload the contract in later years. |

The GM's had been doing a reasonably decent job of not super stupid signings, but here is One for sure that makes you have to shake the noggin.
Why would anyone think this is a Smart deal ?
Good luck VGK , enjoy the first couple years of this deal cause after that it ain't gonna be pretty. |

This will sound like sour grapes since I’m a Blues fan, but it’s not. Petro is a very good player, but not a great player. He will be 31 when the new season starts, so 7 years will get painful. I’m very happy we didn’t sign him to that deal....if we did, then we almost certainly lose Parayko when his deal is up. Add in that Vegas now needs to dump players to fit him in and I’m not sure this makes a lot of sense for them. I do wish the guy well and thank him for 12 years here. |

The Avs would have to clear cap to fit MAF, and at this point it would be a lateral move at best. Grubauer has one year left on his contract so it's more likely than not they'll play it out with him and Francouz.
