1 year contract with a team who maybe unofficially has promised 8-year extension? Just a thought, but seems like there’s gotta be something behind the scenes for him to choose Buffalo over more competitive teams.
- Burnt_juice

Behind the scene like Eichel's LW!
This is a good signing for Hall and the Sabres.

You are a ASS, for someone who supposedly lived there you know nothing about the region.

Denial. Another Buffalonian trait. All of it is true, but I'm not here to argue with you, guy. Appreciate your info this past couple of months.

Makes sense for him to sign with Buffalo! F’d up market due to covid so why not sign a 1 yr deal and play with an elite center that just helped skinner score a 9 mil per year contract just last year! Then he gets his big multi year deal with WAY more money than what he got with what’s perceived a flat cap! THIS ISNT ROCKET SCIENCE GENTLEMEN!
- firelarry

assuming he has a good season, doesn't get injured, the NHL actually has revenue this year...People expect next seasons cap to increase?

Or, more likely, you don't much about hockey and are not aware that he has been on less than stellar teams his entire career.

that is the part i don't get about Hall signing in Buffalo, played on a losing Edmonton team, played on a losing New Jersey team, played with Arizona, who didn't have a realistic chance of winning, has 14 career playoff games, has to be at least 20 playoff potential teams that could have signed him

typical flyers fan boi clinging to 1975....half that team is DEAD
- penguininnevada

Not really, but anyway

What I am saying is Hall in 10 seasons has 14 playoff games under his belt, not the sign of a proven winner. Just happens the team he is on has drafted 1st over 5 times since he was drafted.

Buffalo hasn’t really been winning much for a few years now. So don’t think this add is going to put them on a long playoff run.

Hence my statement of losers find each other. Prove me wrong.

Obviously all about the money for Hall. Found someone to pay him while we wait for the COVID-19 stuff to go away. If it ever does. Sabres are not contenders in any way even with Hall.

LOL, no one outside of MTL ever thought they had a realistic shot at signing Hall

The fact that Hall chose a one-year deal in Buffalo over a long-term deal in Montreal is priceless. And very telling

- AxlRose91

Ugh Hall chose nothing of the sort. MTL didnt make an offer for Hall.

I feel the need to clarify this for all the Habs fans on my timeline this past week wondering about Taylor Hall: the Habs never made a contract offer to him, his agent Darren Ferris confirms to me tonight. One look at their salary cap situation would tell you that.

Typical that it’s mostly butthole Flyers fans trashing on Buffalo... but I don’t know why he’d choose the Sabres.... they aren’t close to contending...

Its a ridiculous move by Hall...nothing wrong from the Sabres perspective

except you wont win and he likely walks (he is using you but that's okay because you like the abuse)

Using the Sabres how?

He comes in and outs up 80 points with Eichel/Staal.

If the Sabres are not in contention they can move him for a good haul or they make the playoffs with him for the first time in awhile.

If that’s being used I’ll take it.

Well for one its just a song man...but he is using them to bolster his stats and hopefully score a better long term deal next season. Haul for Hall at the deadline? Well he has a NMC so only if they are totally out of it...which likely means he had a bad season.

Again I don't think its bad for the Sabres I do question Halls logic...many scenarios where he costs himself millions

I'd come to the same conclusion if Hall signed a multi-year deal with them. He didn't. He'll play on a line with a top 10ish player in the league. If the Sabres blow, Hall can waive his NTC and essentially command where he wants to go for a playoff run in exchange for the waiver. Sabres, in turn, will pick up some assets. If Hall likes playing with Eichel and the team, regardless of whether the Sabres make the playoffs, he can re-up.

I also doubt he got satisfactory long term offers. So why sell low on yourself during an unusual economic situation and take a low total contract value just for the sake of security? This contract says Hall believes in himself. I'm sure that appealed to Adams.

No, he signed a 1-year deal with Buffalo to wait and see if Suzuki & KK are ready for full time top line duties and if Romanov is ready to step in right away. Makes sense for him to do that then sign with the Habs next year after being reassured they're for real.

I cant prove you wrong but I can say this. Whether it's injuries or being unable to, Hall has only scored 30 or more goals in a season once in his 10 seasons. That said, there is no downside to this signing so no reason for anyone to have negativity or troll the signing.. Sabres have done well with Hall and Staal this offseason.

Problem is if those guys are as good as you say they will take up more cap space than the team can afford to sign Hall.

Listen the Habs cap space has been a hot topic. But the only reason the Habs have that cap space unlike most teams, is because most teams aren't so pathetic to have only one player with more than 50 points.

So easy to to have cap space when your top three point producers have 60, 40 and 40 points on the season.

Of course these young elite stars you mention who had a whopping 64 points combined are.due for.raises the Habs won't be able to sign Hall anyways.

Last but not least, let's not act like covid and only covid, was the reason why the Habs were even able to "make the playoffs"

Sabers did well. Suck it up princess.

They are in Cap trouble trying to fit Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy winner Connor Hart and Nolan Patrick in. Have you brought them to see you shining Lord Stanley Caitlyn ? Pretty sure they can both buff.
