Perhaps there are very limited options as you say (there are for sure worse, I am not disputing that) but the best he could do a one year deal on a team that will likely not make playoffs?

Halll is actually a genius. Going to play on Eichel's wing for a year and get his numbers up for next year's bigger deal when teams get a little more cap room.

Oh .. and he is making 8 friggin million dollars this year.

New regime changing things up. Their goal is to make the POs and this will certainly help. It’s a new FA period with not many teams looking to add more Cap but reduce it.
