This is disappointing. A blemish on what's been a good couple days for the Oilers. I like the Turris, Ennis, Barrie signings . . . but they started the day yesterday willing to spend 35 million over 7 years to improve goaltending. Instead they lock up Smith again and, in my opinion, paid him a million too much in todays market. Win some (Barrie), lose some, I guess.

Furthermore, they need to learn to defend (quoting their captain here). The players they acquired do not help in this department so it seemed imperative they upgrade in goal. Too bad they missed out there, IMO.

Oilers fans will be happy until they see Barrie taking too many of those big clappers from the point on the pp and losing possession, rather than getting the puck on McDavid's and Draisaitl's sticks.

This must be a joke. I would not hire Smith to caddy for my netminder.

Oiler fans are soiling their panties about the signing of Tyson Barrie right now. Anyone who saw Barrie play last year would know he is rotten. You shall see, Oiler fans

Setting aside the bubble performance, which was a total crapshoot, the Oilers had a very good season last year so bringing back Smith for a year doesn't seem like a horrible move. I guess ideally they would upgrade there, but once Markstrom was gone I don't see there being many other options who were head and shoulders above what Smith brought so why not give him another year on the cheap. Especially when goalies can be so unpredictable, at least on paper they didn't get worse at that position than last year.

With the other moves they made to improve the forward depth and adding an offensive dman, I see them as a top 10 team in the NHL who might have actually improved on the team from last year and at the very least stayed the same, while having some young talent coming. Not too bad.

Mike Smith's awful playoff performance can't give Oilers fans too much confidence. Better hope Koskinen can play most of the games.

The Oilers, the only team in the NHL actively trying to fix that whole making the playoffs problem

Guess the oilers had no plans on solving goaltending...

Ennis turris barrie Smith?.guys nobody wanted...what a mess.

My favourite is how Barrie is going to redeem his defensive abilities by going to a team with as much defensive flaws, if not more, as his former team.

You’ve got 2 NHL players.

Try to get a 3rd one.

Baby steps!

Yea was cute watching elliot save him..but hey that's a great core of old players the flyers have. Gives you great pride and confidence to troll. To be fair though, hockey sticks look like canes upside down, so maybe they will enter their second prime years.

I'm not sure what your agenda is here but unless you take pride in the amount of ass hair a team has, nobody takes the flyers team over the oilers team.
