Bill, what do you think of the claim on TV when they said his stride is unfixable?

They said the same thing about Tim Kerr. He did just fine. How much has being a below average skater hurt Mark Stone? Different type of player. Certainly not expecting Kerr-like scoring, either.

But am saying it can be worked around.

I was kidding about the Hendrix pick in the last blog. Literally the only thing I know about him is that he has an awesome first name.

i'd expect the scouting to be better now than in the days of Kerr though

I guess we'll find out in at least 2 years

Hey you kinda called it Bill! He was one of your 4 possibles. 6’2” 210 with a howitzer and sniping ability sounds alright to me!

Great pick!

I still think it’s funny that Fletcher’s idea of acting fast when Niskanen retired is, re-sign Justin Braun.

Solid pick getting Foerster. His skating will be fine.

Now we can add another big sniper in Daniel Torgersson. Torgersson will go into the corners and can get those grimey goals posted in front of the net. He's a 6'3" 205 lb RW/LW with a nose for the net, I like it.

Another sneaky good pick in the second round is Brandon Coe of the atrocious North Bay Battalion in the OHL. Playing on easily the worst team in the OHL, Coe looked really good and put up good numbers. Had one hell of a top prospects game, was nice to see what he could do with any sort of talent around him. Decent defensive player also. He's a 6'4" 188 lb RW with speed. I'm thinking a Lindblom type of steal.

Bill, were the Flyers set to pick Hendrix Lapierre? Seems Washington thought so, why else would they trade up to leap-frog the Flyers.

I thought same thing, otherwise Flyers should have traded their pick to WSH.

Andreas Athanasiou will be an unrestricted free agent. Haven't heard him mentioned as a potential forward addition, but it could make good sense.

They may have thought the Flyers were going to move back and let someone else take him too.

I couldn’t see the Flyers taking him with Patrick’s issues not resolved yet. Washington also needed to make a splash. Their current prospect pool is one of the weakest in the league imo.

I’d take him sooner than Bobby Ryan. Flyers definitely need to add some speed up front.

Let’s see where he is at in 3 years. Maybe he will break in the same time as Jay O’Brien

Bill,
in your opinion what distinguished this pick from likes of Peterka and Pereault (spelling) for the Flyers draft camp?

Not thrilled with this pick as I feel the Flyers needed to add more, not less, speed. Also comparisons to Kerr in regards to his skating are ludicrous. Kerr was a massive 6’3 230 and freakishly strong, possessed unbelievably soft hands and powerful wrists and played in era where speed wasn’t as much of a factor.

Foerster’s skating is a legit issue and this pick has a chance to be a flat out bust. IMO, Perrault or Grieg would have been better choices.

So, how long before the kid is realistically able to compete for the NHL roster?
