I think the Flames have a shot at Piet. I realize TO & Vegas are probably more where he wants to play but unless they shed a fair bit of salary it can’t happen. That being said maybe we could pry schmidt out of Vegas. |

Not sure how the Canucks get around the expansion draft exposure thing but I would offer Markstrom the same deal Lehner just took and if its not what he wants move on.
I also like dealing for Kuemper if we can send BSD back the other way as part of the deal and pick up an experienced back up on a 1 year deal. Maybe Kuemper/Talbot.
Plenty of goaltending fish in the sea this year. |

Awesome job on going back to the retro threads again! Those jersey's should've never been changed! |

Play Gio with hanifin and Anderson with valimaki we don’t need a 7 mil 30 year old d man sign a goalie and top RW see how it’s going by 35-40 games adjust as needed |

My top Flames draft choices:
1) Perreault
2) Gunler
3) Amirov
4) Zary
Obviously Jarvis but his stock shot up lately. Can't see him getting past #15 max. |

There are going to be some really good deals for teams with cap space in the next while. I would feel better waiting for the right fit comes up rather than signing your top FA's in biding wars. |

Can't wait for our top D pair to get hemmed in every single night. |

Of that list Schneider is my choice but I’d like to see who falls. Hoping for Dawson Mercer. |

All of Gio, Hanafin and Valimaki are lady shots with little to no experience playing the right side. It’s a recipe for disaster. |

With Detroit apparently going all in to get Markstrom there is no way the flames should or could out bid them |

Here's the thing, Markstrom & Lehner havent won a fcking thig yet, Holtby has & played with a team that had to work their way to finally break through to a cup. He would also fit somewhere between Lehner & Jarry. I would be thrilled to get him.

Who the hell wants to go to Detroit at 30? He’ll be late 30’s before they’re competitive. |

Should have read as ‘left’ shots. |

He's fine but disappointing since he hasn't improved since his second year in the league. Great skater, awful hockey IQ, pretty average everywhere else. |

Why all the sudden hate for Hanifin? Guys still young had a decent playoff.
On the goalie situation, Tre better hit a homerun on this, cant keep signing stop gap goalies. 11 in 6 years, shows he need to get this one right. If he had confidence in Talbot he would have signed him by now.
I’d be interested in talking with Krug, he’d quarterback the powerplay, and is a solid d. Not sure what he’s looking for.
On the draft I like Zary, he’s put up some great numbers last year, 6’, 180lbs not bad for a 18 year old. If Askarov is available when we pick, I’d grab him. Doubtful though as hell most likely be gone and the Flames seem to like drafting goalies every 2nd year.
Going to be an exciting next few days. Look forward to some changes. Go Flames Go! |

Glad OEL took us off the list, that contract is going to stink in the near future! Come on Canucks bid high. |

Not applicable anymore given the amount of games he's played in the league.

So it’s his fault that he jumped right in after being drafted.
It’s always easy to find fault in players you watch every game, sometimes the unknown is worse.
But hey if Tre can get a great return for any player, I’m listening. Just no lateral moves.
Hanifin for DeBrusk, I’m all over that. |

Carolina definitely F’ed up rushing hanifin, but as said between two different teams he hasn’t shown year to year improvement. It’s the same difference between mangiapane who’s the same age but keeps getting better and Sam Bennett who’s only a year older and is what he is.
It’s not impossible for a player to have a random William Karlsson type breakout but it is also far from likely.
Player development may not be linear but if it plateaus ...well if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s probably a duck |

How did they screw up? He was ready to play in the NHL at 18 and looked fantastic as a rookie. He's never looked in over his head.
Most players keep getting better once they're in the league. He hasn't, and there's no real reason to think an extra year of college would have made much of a difference. |
