I think Murray will be traded. To whom, I'm not sure. If Minnesota is looking to move on from Dubnyk then they are in the market for a goalie, either signing off the FA pile as a stop gap or trading for a young guy like Murray.

I just don't expect much in trade for goalies this off season.

Oh, you can change your post. Elliott just signed in Philly for a year.

Teams looking at Lundqvist are looking for a stopgap

Teams looking at Murray are looking at a (potential) long term goalie

Not comparables AT ALL

And that's why you go with Jarry over MM@ 5-6 Million

4.7 Million combined in Jarry/DeSmith.... I like it

Lol and Ryan Wilson is already complaining about the contract on Twitter. “Seems high when compared to Gibson and hellebuyck”. It’s for 3 years and that takes care of goaltending for the malkin crosby era.

How could you complain about that contract for Jarry? Seems perfect.

On a side note, I dont know if Henrik really makes a difference but there is a chance JR overplayed his hand with Murray and gets nothing.

I agree with this. Also, I wouldn't look at numbers from 2 years ago for a goalie who turns 39 soon.

This is what I'm afraid of. I think a 1st is ridiculous. If someone offers a 2nd, take it and don't look back.

Im pretty sure teams in need of a G would rather trade for Murray than sign an old Lundy who is way past his prime.

Secondly Murray had one bad season... he even preformed much better in the playoffs. I see no reason to be worried.

The thing about Jarry, is EVEN when MM was killing it in Wilkes Barrie and was still seen as a prospect and EVEN when he was winning back to back cups

Jarry was ALWAYS more highly regarded as a prospect over MM

Remember there was a time the Habs had chosen to play Halak over Price and there were rumours of Price getting traded

It was actually controversial when they chose to go with Price in 2010/2011 and traded Halak

Price had the pedigree and that matters in goalie development

I don't think the offers for goalies are anywhere near what us fans think they are this year. I agree with the poster that if it's a 2nd rounder, you take it and run.

I think that matches Murray's last contract which was all RFA years, so fair deal. I think anyone expecting cheaper wasn't taking into account Jarry was only 2 years from UFA and they got one of those years at a bridge deal price.

That’s all dependent on what Lundqvist and his agent want/are asking for. If Lundqvist is cup Chasing and is cool with short term cheap contracts to give him the best shot at a Cup, it would be foolish for a team to actively trade for a goalie they need to give $6 mil and term to instead of signing Lundqvist for free.

Eh, I wouldn't say that's true. They were drafted just one round apart and for about a year Jarry was considered better, but it's been a long time since Jarry was considered a real high pedigree goalie. Murray pulled close his first year in WBS, ahead the year after, and it wasn't even a comparison until this year.

I mean many people were mad Jarry wasn't placed on waivers in favor if DeSmith a year ago. That's a far cry from Price.

Yeah, this is probably how it shakes out in terms of value. Nothing wrong with asking high, but they'll want to get this done by the draft if possible so time to make a deal for what you can soon.

Oh yeah, you ask for high prices and see what shakes out. Murray got you two cups and anything at this point is great because then you're freeing up the cap space for sure.

I think it's a win regardless of what he is dealt for.

There's only roster space for 2 on the team, so it will fit. Not really room to add anyone who's not making less than 1M though so complicates Simon's return.

Lafferty and Angelo can both go to WBS without needing waivers.

We really need to pull off a Murray trade where we take no salary back or get a forward back that can be an asset to the top 9.

That 2 million retained and Johnson contracts are really weighing things down.

Especially considering they could have saved $1.5M this year by buying out Bjug instead of trading him with half retained.

Just a sad situation when the goal was to improve the 3rd line and now it looks like it will be far worse.

They need to move JJ's salary.
