Yes, no other GM has ever asked a player to waive his NTC. |

I’m sure Florida wanted 33 year old , oft injured, overpaid by your own admission Hornqvist “soooo badly” that the best JR could do was get Matheson

I don't know, man. At the end of the day this is a business and Horny was an employee. Horny is getting shipped somewhere with awesome weather and less taxes. He'll be ok but will the Pens locker room? |

RW is being a whiny female genitalia but JR trading Horny was a Richard move. |

GMJR seriously must have banged RW's mom.
"Treating players poorly for his own personal accolades". Really?? Personal accolades like, what, winning the cup?
I'd say GMJR and the Pens as an organization go above and beyond to treat players well. You criticize GMJR for being too generous with contracts.... you criticize (rightly so) GMJR's loyalty to Jack Johnson.... but then go and criticize for treating players poorly. Pick a lane bro. Nothing will ever make you happy.
Why has everything skewed from cheering for a team to victimizing individuals. These athletes are paid generously. They agree to contracts. Everyone on this blog would give their left nut to get paid $5M a year to play hockey and then finish out their careers in the sunshine state. |

I read Rossi's article today and he doesn't really seem to have a feel for how the Johnson situation will play out. He went over all the possible scenarios we already knew, but didn't mention buyout or retention. He touched on a lot issues for the Pens cap this year and moving forward, but this is how he ended the article:
There will be more moves this offseason. It’s the next one that figures to be The Big One. |

I'm not even sure why we're still talking about this. RW scraping for content.

In the Crosby/Malkin prime we got a cup and a finals appearance. Then 7 years of nothing with 2014-2015 being pathetic early exits from the playoffs, no one on here can tell me they were confident we would see another cup.
JR took that team, made bold moves and got us BACK to BACK cups. Something that hadn’t been done in almost 20 years and a fair chance isn’t done again.
Without JR there is a good possibility that we only have 1 cup in the Crosby/Malkin era.
It’s fair to say the Pens window is pretty well closed, but instead of going off into the sunset humbly like we all should enjoying the last couple decades of watching two generational talents win. Nope we have these whiny garbage fans who talk sh!t about the very GM who took a losing team to back to back cups!
What audacity to think you have a modicum of the talent needed to be a GM let alone a 3 time Stanley cup winning hall of fame GM.

Hey stackthepads:
Typical homer/yinzer response. GMJR won us Cups so we can never criticize him.
Thank you GMJR for getting us 2 additional Cups. However, what he has done since those Cups is tear this franchise apart. Just ask the Carolina followers... He cant seem to get out of his way.
And remember before we won those two cups...the sharks were circling after he mismanaged the Cap so bad that we had to play a player short in 2015. THAT is unacceptable for any GM. Not to mention the laundry list of just plain AWFUL moves GMJR has made since we won in 2017.
Winning the 2 Cups gets you Thanks and appreciation from fans, but it should NOT be a complete get out of jail free card for the rest of your career. And being unhappy with the ridiculously poor moves he has made the last 3 years does NOT make you a whiny ________ either.

If Florida really would have just claimed Hornqvist off waivers, man that would have been such a better move than trading for a bottom pairing d man and a 13th forward with a combined $5 mil + cap hit. |

So, from where we were basically a year ago, in regards to NHL roster ready players, Seems like the focus has been younger/faster 2 way players and more durability. Guys leaving all older and past their prime and paid big $$. These were bad moves?
Out
Maatta 4 Million
Gudbranson 4 Million
Hornqvist 5.3 Million
Kessel 6.8 Million
Schultz 5.5 Million
Bjugstad 4.1 Million
In
Zucker 5.5 Million
Matheson 4.8 Million
Tanev 3.5 Million
Kapanen 3.2 Million
Marino 800k
POJ 1 Million
Scevior 1.2 Million |

Which is why this blog is trash. Seemed like Friedman was just trying to insert a piece on anecdotal evidence to make his read interesting
1 second of critical thought and you know this wouldn't be true. GMJR would have loved the capspace and by all reports Florida is trying to shed cash, not add more |

I have to think Murray is the next domino and will really set the tone for the balance of the offseason. Will he be moved for a decent roster player like Kassian, Pujujuarvi, Bennett or Tierney? Does he get moved with JJ as a salary dump? Does he get moved for picks that JR will bundle to dump JJ? I'm anxious to find out. |

Likely, but I wouldn’t definitively say that given Rutherford’s track record of fixating on players. However, the inclusion of Colton Sceivor would suggest that Florida was trying to match cap and not absorb any excess. |

there has been some whiny RW posts, but this one has to be top 3. Can we get a blogger who does somewhat interesting articles instead of female doging about 2 players and the GM for the entire season?
Like a “player review” article, or realistic trade/FA acquisitions? |
