"We were able to get a deal done in two calls. I think it’s a market value contract. It’s a fair contract. He’s a kid that earned that contract and deserved that contract. We felt comfortable there. Not every deal is that straight-forward."
Among other things, I am glad Hagg will be around for Oscar's sake. |

Also Bill,
Nice article. Interesting story about Van Impe and Watson.
But wait. Did you start to write this the very first minute after waking up? Were your first mins a tad meh? Did you have to use the loo? And was your aim a tad errant?
If the latter, I am sorry, but I take the praise back. If you knew you were going to do something good, you would have done it the first opportunity to do so.
You just got lucky. |

Bill,
The Athletic did a mock draft and had the Flyers taking Noel Gunler, RW-Lulea-SHL.
He is described as a sniper. Do you have any thoughts on Noel Gunler? |

Interesting to see what transpires in the coming days....covid really may have an impact on when a player arrives to play for the big club considering they may not have options to play elsewhere. |

Ugh I hope not. His scouting report says he has absolutely no aggressiveness or physicality to his game and goes on to describe him as a perimeter player. |

That's all he that he can do. Can't confront me directly. It's either that or ridiculous and asinine analogies.
Don't worry though, he's leaving HB. Any day now! |

The word you are looking for is satire.
And no, no dig at MJL. Elementary logic flies fast and furious over the man. Satire would be the moon behind clouds.
In life pretty much every success you have because of conscious effort is part luck, (because of things outside your control), and part credit to you (you chose to do it the way you did it when you could have done something else). The question is how much of each is involved.
But yesterday, I learned that if you did something after the first opportunity you could have, and if whatever you did earlier was not quite perfect, then its luck, pure luck.
So, if Bill aimed and missed, and then wrote this article, I am terribly sorry. The verdict is quite clear: Luck found him, in the same way his splatter found the floor.

He's not the type of player that Flyers scouts are typically drawn to in round 1. His ceiling is top 6, NHL floor is low if he doesn't score in volume. High-risk pick.
I know Charlie wants to see the Flyers roll the dice here. I'd be fine if the Flyers traded down and could get him plus an extra asset. But I'd like to see what's there at 23.
BTW, if you're mainly looking for a shooter and he's there at 23, Tyson Foerster is one of the 2 or 3 best pure shooters in the draft. It's his skating that people question. Both Foerster and Gunler also get questioned for their willingness to battle for pucks. |

Scot Daniels was terrible. Kordic was the man. Too bad blew out his knee years earlier. Corkum solid 4thline center with size. |

Ridly Grieg honestly does check a ton of boxes. I wouldn’t worry about his dad being one of our scouts. I think he could very well be off the board when we pick tho. |

Bill,
What's your read on the Flyers and Ridly Greig if he is there at 23? He seems kind of like a Konecny light in a way.
Also if there guy isn't there at 23 I would have no issue with dropping and getting more assets. Seems like after around 15, players are pretty interchangeable depending on what your looking for for your organization. |

I like Foerster as well, but I would rather take Perreault over him and Gunler, but I don't think he makes it past the teens.

Bill,
Do you put any stock in bloodlines? I watched Alex Tuch have a solid playoffs and know his brother is available in this draft. More of a project but if he can become somewhat the player his brother is that is a win. Also kids like Jacob Perreault and Lukas Reichel. Does that factor at all into looking at some of these kids. |
