I would like to see Stevie draft Rossi w/ 4OA and trade a couple picks and/or Cholo or Raz for a 1st that can draft Askorov. But if the price is too high for that I am sure he has the Wings picks in the 2nd round all mapped out, and well scouted.

It also depends how the draft plays out. If someone starts slipping; Yzerman not only has the assets this year, but future assets, as well as cap space if taking on another bad contract is needed.

How badly does Minny want to dump Dumba, I would take the chance. Does he have positive or negative value? If it is negative does Dumba and #9 for #32 and say the NYR 2021 2nd have a chance at happening? Now you could look at Sanderson, Lundell, or possibly Askarov. I just don't know Dumba's actual value.

The scouting has really picked up with Steve’s arrival. He does a lot of hands on. If you listen to Cole Perfetti’s interview, Yzerman was doing a lot of listening. He didn’t even turn his camera on. Rossi, on the other hand, has had much more interaction. The GM plays a mean hand of poker.

For sure. The team has everyone “numbered”. If someone falls to 32 that they had at 20 it’s very possible. On Dumba, I’m not sure. Right now Guerin is looking for a number 2 center and that doesn’t seem to be panning out. For some reason, his value is off.

Not many teams have the cap space to take on gambling on him and the teams that do don't exactly have a number 2C laying around. I'd have to think he has something else up his sleeve.

Not sure how I feel about Markstrom in net, do we really need a 30 year old who is probably signing for 7 years? I was all for Demko but looks like he swill stay with them now. Not sure what we do there.

Honestly I would be totally fine with, like, Cam Talbot on a two-year deal.

The only UFA goalie available that I think has even a reasonable chance of being meaningfully better than average and living up to a 4-5 year deal would be Robin Lehner, and he ain't signing here.

Roll with Bernier and Talbot to start the year and then try to exploit the cap crunch / upcoming expansion draft to pry away somebody's overqualified 20-something 1B.

Yep. Probably the only UFA goalie that makes sense to me.

Lots of talk about Askarov going at 13 to Carolina. How do things change if Askarov goes 3rd to Ottawa? Now Stevie has a choice Rossi or Stutzie.

ASKAROV and find out. Use the pick at 4. Elite, generational goalie talent. He's not going to be available in round 2. Hockey is a team game that needs a great goalie to win. We don't even have a shot to draft a McDavid or Draisitl and them on the same team don't even guarantee getting into the playoffs.

Interesting. Both Askarov and Rossi have names that could be branded. Askarov brand Pierogies? Rossi brand Lasagne? Neither will have the impact of Z’s cream filled Swedish balls. They were gluten free.

Look for the Bruins to trade Torey Krug's rights tomorrow to a team looking for exclusive negotiations before UFA opens on 10/9. Colorado, Florida, Vegas, and Detroit are among the suitors.

The Booins will be trading his rights. I am ambivalent about Stevie getting involved here! It seems too soon to make a big FA score!

Yzerman built Tampa mostly through trades and the draft. I’m not worried about him signing a big ugly contract to a high priced UFA.

I am hoping that will happen, but the media seems to think Detroit is in pursuit of Krug. I really can't see Stevie giving up a pick for his rights and then signing him to a $7M x 7 contract! Krug reportedly turned down a Bruin offer of $6.5M x 6.

Yzerman doesn't telegraph his moves. So I'm going to assume all of this Markstrom and Krug talk is bullpoop.

I keep hearing these things. It’s just “noise” for me. The interesting thing is the Boston offered him 6 yrs at 6.5 million. How much past that would it take?

I'm not interested in Detroit signing 29 year old Torey Krug to a 7 or 8 year contract for $7.5-8 mil AAV and watching his game fall off the cliff in 2 or 3 years. If Yzerman were to go rogue he may as well just offer sheet 22 year old Sergachev. But I don't expect him to do that either.
