8 - 8.5 for 6 years or 8.5 - 9 for 5 years. |

I hope the Leafs sign him for 7 years at $10 mil per. Then they will be the 1st team to have 5 players taking up over $50 mil in cap space. Even Dubas wouldn't do this... or would he? |

Would be great for us, but St. Louis offered pretty close to that and he seems to want to re-sign there, but didn't take it. Seems unlikely that gets it done.
The only way I could see that happening is if he hits free agency, and all the offers coming in are in that range, confirming the cap crunch. But even in that scenario, St. Louis can still sign him at roughly that range.
My total guess is he's looking for something to hit double digits. |

It’s not just the cap hit, it’s how it’s structured. NMC and bonuses. |

The funny thing is,,
If the Leafs would’ve had any kind of playoff success lately, he’d be more likely to consider signing with them. I don’t think players consider Toronto to be place to go to win a cup. Poor management, no balance, too much pressure..

sounds like leafs can get him for 8 mil.
Especially if its majority in signing bonus.
I think this is doable... 6 by 8 or 6 by 8.25? |

Toronto is 100% a desired place for players to go for the exact opposite of your silly take. They have a management team that is tops in the NHL. They have a flood of talent on the cusp of breaking out. With AP they are an instinct cup favourite heading into the next couple of season. Toronto has the best support and medical staff in all of sport. Players are very well taken care of. And F-off with the added pressure. This is pro sports. Winning in Toronto is a dream for most. |

If we can get him for something that starts with an '8', that would be a helluva add. Doughty signed for 11m per, and that was 2 years ago! |

7x7 with the right bonus and salary structure to optimize his payment - that would be the number for Pietrangelo.
I am not too sure Leafs would such a good fit for him though and visa versa - I feel leafs have better options to improve their chances to win a cup or 2 |

A leader off and on the ice. A smart defender who uses good positioning instead of relying on physicality or speed, so his playing style would age well. Has missed just 34 games since entering the league full time, so injuries aren’t much of a concern. A Norris caliber player who has finished 4th, 5th, and 9th in voting. Coming off his 4th 50+ point season (8th 40+ season). Most importantly...KNOWS HOW TO WIN, and be a significant part of it.
If he can’t help this team, then this franchise is cursed and will never win. |

you seriously think he's going to take a deal that pays him less than what he was making last season as a UFA? |

his cap hit was 6.5, but he made 7.5 last year, and considering what he'll be offered, doubt leafs get him for less than 9 |
