Certainly can’t complain about that NAK deal. Good one to iron out right off the bat.

Nice to see him rewarded for his hard work. Seems to have the confidence of the coaching staff....which is huge.

The coaching staff rode him pretty hard, especially right after a hiccup that led to him being removed from PP2 for awhile. But he responded in just the right way, and began to earn their trust. He's close with Lappy in particular.

On the first question, I think Giroux is fibbing a little. Tough situation.

maybe I am reading too much into this though the fact that they rode him tells me mentally he is tough and can handle that type of criticism/encouragement. That is obviously a great trait to have.

He’s just trying not to make any excuses for his poor play.

I've always been told while playing sports if the coach is riding you it just means he cares. When they stop talking to you and harping on you is when you should be worried.

I like NAK and am glad he will continue to play here.

Lock of the day. Take the Yankees to light up beantown tonight. Start this week off with an easy winner. Boston pitching blows worse than baker and Yankees hot. 8-2 yanks. Start this new week off on the winning note.

Accept what? That he admits to not playing good enough or that he isn’t going to use being away from his family as an excuse for his poor play? Not sure what you want him to say? Haven’t you seen Bull Durham? He’s just sticking to the script.

I’d actually prefer him to say it was the bubble or missing family. At least that’s a real understandable excuse which no one could fault him for

@SMS

1) He said he needs to be better, thats the same thing as he wasnt good enough

2) Yuou want him to make excuses? Giroux has been our captain for close to a decade and never has he ever used any sort of injury as an excuse despite needing surgery in the offseason. Why would you expect him to make excuses now?

G sounds very confident in the NP situation. If that's the case, then there's quite a bit we don't know...

From what I see and read, I am NOT confident at all. We can be hopeful, but he sounds optimistic...?

NAK this past year seemed tk get under the oppositions skin. Was that just due to his hits and play (what I think). Never really saw him chirp much and he doesn’t seem to be challenge much to fight.

I fab he continues he may be off to Seattle.

C. Giroux is a great old time hockey guy, play out the next two years of his contract and see where the chips fall.

On the other hand JVR coming back for a second bite of the apple may be A salary albatross.

giroux is trash when it matters and he should either be stripped of his C or traded. 1 playoff series win in 8 years?? Why would the team keep this nucleus together.

To me that’s a good thing....some players wouldn’t handle that type of scrutiny....the fact that he has come through it speaks volumes about NAK’s character.
