Next season projected 10.3M space
i) Sign AA, Benning, and Bear. This could cost 8M.

ii) Get at least a proven 1B goalie. Basically the remainder of the cap space gone.

iii) Ditch Russell. Would be ideal but I won't hold my breath. If they can dump his cap maybe they can do some extra UFA shopping.

iv) Extend Nuge. Following season projected 32.7M space.

Elvis had a good season in CBJ. Bob had pretty mediocre sv% in FLA.

The witch doctors that spell the voodoo for goalies is the goalie coaches. If you track goalie coach movement you might notice interesting trends for who they work with, both team and player.

So who is gonna be Edmonton’s goalie coach next year? What’s their track record like??

Going to be funny when Holland ends up signing Howard for 1 or 2 years at 2 mil per.

Holland will sign Howard for a lot more than 2 mill. Holland gave Smith a non performance contract that "could" have paid 3.75. The guy is 38 and coming off a terrible previous year.

Holland will back the truck up for Howard.

Any to-do list that doesn't include a proper 3C fails to address the biggest gap on the current roster. It should be priority #1, in my eyes.

1.) Larsson for Bonino OR AA for Faksa

2.) AA for Montour OR sign DeMelo

3.) Move on from whichever of the tradeable assets is left (Larsson, AA, Benning) to ensure cap space for other signings (Bear, Ennis, UFA F like Larsson)

4.) Pursue Dell OR pitch Arizona a Russell+pick/prospect for Raanta trade (money savings)

We'll likely end up with Howard, but his numbers were so bad last year that I can't imagine he gets given more than 1mil (w/ performance bonuses).

Faksa would be great but I think he would be hard to pry away from the Stars given their post-season success (unless he asks for a big raise).

I like the Russell + for Raanta idea. I'd also be willing to package Russell with Pulju to address the 3C. Maybe someone like Zacha but it would prob cost more.

Can't believe Pouliot and Sekera buyouts are still costing almost 4M in cap next season.
