I’m against trading him, we could have the best right side in the league with Trouba ADA Fox.
- nyrangers9479

That is appealing, but I don't see how it makes sense regarding the cap. In a few years it would require about $20M to have those 3 signed. Add in Panarin, Kreider and Zib (new contract assumption) and we're around >$45M for 6 guys. Shesty probably puts us around $52M for 7 guys...
And a slew of ELC's coming to an end.

That's 100% true, the whole movement's agenda is a complete American takeover, nothing to do with black lives. Trojan Horse, look it up

It’s going to suck if they have to move him because his contract demands are too high, but that’s life in a cap world. There’s going to be some casualties.

I still think they should see how he does on the left side. Kill two birds with one stone.

ADA Trouba
Lindgren Fox
Miller Nils

That’s basically three top pairings.

- Bean_Dip

Two of those guys haven't played an NHL game. Lol

I believe Nils signed with to play in Sweden this year. This lineup is not happening this season.

I hope you aren't implying that Max Domi would bring back Jones one for one. That would signify a flaw in your trade proposal matrix from the beginning.
- Tonybere

Domi wont, but what Im saying is it cost the Preds Seth Jones, arguably one of the best D men in the league, for a player the Preds thought could be a #1 center.

One season removed from a 70pt season at the ripe age of 23, MTL would probably want someone 1 tier below Seth Jones. If Domi starts ruffling feathers and stuff it could work in the Rangers favor.

It's a head scratcher for sure. Stay the (frank) off social media.

That's correct. This would be in a year or two. Still relevant as you have to think about the future when making decisions on contracts, like ADA.

so, when considering that he wants a long term big money contract with the Rangers, a team that just endured negative publicity when K'Andre Miller was on a team arranged Zoom chat and somebody broke in and called him the N WORD like 45,000 times......

don't you think Tony D would be wise to just shut the hell up on twitter?

- jimbro83

Yes, which I will cover when I do my ADA blog. His views and public manifestation of them will have to be considered by the team or any team he is on.

I have no issues with him speaking his mind, it is America and he should be allowed to just that. I don't agree with his stance, but I have no issues with it as long as he can become part of a Stanley Cup winner and doesnt alienate his future teammate/teammates.

If ADA is re-signed, very likely there's a social media clause in the contract. I'd be including it if I was GM.

Honestly I'd bridge deal him. You had 1 good year, here's a 2x3.5m deal and show us you can keep this consistent. Gives the rangers a chance to check out the kids and ADA a chance to raise his stock either here or elsewhere

Agree. Give him a one year bridge around $4M and call it a day. If he's having another point producing year, then you will have some $$$ to extent after the season with big contracts and a lot of dead cap $$$ coming off the books.

So heres my argument, what if this was his peak. What if he hits a slump next year and doesnt see this form again? Did we just lose out on a nice return?

agreed. how many people have we seen have one good year and then never replicate it. i'd prefer the bridge and deal with a higher salary later if he proves he's the real deal.

would definitely suck, but prefer that happened vs a big contract that bites us in the ass.

one of the problems is though, he is always a second away from retweeting something that he may not even realize is that inflammatory

look at what Trump did

one month ago, Trump retweeted a Trump parade video, in it a supporter yells "WHITE POWER!!"

i think if you give Trump the benefit of the doubt, he didn't watch the whole thing and didn't realize that was there, he did it by accident and he's Trump

if Tony D did that? forget it, in this environment?

Tony D isn't going to win the War against cancel culture and personally I'd rather he just focus on hockey

Well thats why Im good with trading ADA if it fills, what I consider a much more pressing need at 2C.

This usually never works out for players and team. Id cut my losses and avoid another Kapernick situation.
